Ok im playing a game with a friend of mine, and i tried to explain what happens. Here is the question
| Code: | I have a Dominating Licid in play as a creature. I copy it with Vesuvan Shapeshifter and attach the copy to a creature. At the beginning of my upkeep, I choose to turn it face-down. It is still a non-creature Enchantment -- Aura attached to that creature, since the Dominating Licid's continuous effect applies in layers 4 and 5 on top of the layer-1 copy effect. I lose control of the creature, since it is an aura with no abilities except "enchant creature." If I turn it face-up for 1U and choose to copy another creature, it is an Aura with "enchant creature" and the text of that other creature. (Psionic Entity or Reckless Embermage would be fun here.)
If I copy the original Dominating Licid again, I will regain control of the enchanted creature, and my Aura will get an instance of the Licid's activated ability again, which I can activate to attach it to another creature and create a second Licid continuous effect. If I want to make it a creature again I have to end both of the CEs (by paying U for each), but the order I end them is irrelevant.

Can you tell me if im right or wrong and why? lol sorry for the little quiz. |

Oh goodie! A question about Licids! First some autocarding: Dominating Licid, Vesuvan Shapeshifter.
I've been thinking about it for over half an hour now and I can't figure it out, I'm going higher up. I'll post the answer when I get it. |

| Well, I found the reason I couldn't find a mistake. There wasn't any. That is all correct. Extremely weird, but correct. |

I have a question.
In LordHawk's first paragraph he states that "At the beginning of my upkeep, I choose to turn it (referring to VS copying DL) face-down."
How can he do this when the VS ability says, in part, "At the beginning of your upkeep, you may turn this creature face down" but the VS is no longer a creature?
From Gatherer (Dominating Licid):
10/4/2004 It becomes an Enchantment - Aura and stops being all other permanent types.
But let's say he could turn it face-down. Then we have the Gatherer answer for VS:
9/25/2006 When Vesuvan Shapeshifter is turned face down, its copy effect wears off. While it's face down, it's a face-down Vesuvan Shapeshifter that can be turned face up for a morph cost of 1U.
Which would mean that it would no longer be an Enchantment-Aura and just be a 2/2 type-less, colorless creature.
My take would be that VS would be an Enchantment-Aura with the ability of "At the beginning of your upkeep, you may turn this creature face down" but would not be able to use this ability as it is no longer a creature.
Hardtrack....if I'm wrong could you point out where?
thanks |

It just says 'creature' because that's what it will be most often. It won't stop working just because it's not a creature. It really means 'turn this object face down'.
Yes, the copy effect will end. But why would that mean the continuous effect set up by the activated ability stops working? It doesn't care if it's still a copy of the Licid, just like it doesn't care if it still has the activated ability that created it. Until you pay one blue mana that effect keeps working, no matter what happens around it. |

| I'm not sure about this question, but I do know that if you were to copy a gemhide sliver with vesuvan shapeshifter, you could tap them for 2 manas each making a total of 4 manas. |
