This is the deck i've been playing lately on mws, with decent success versus any deck, like any good rock should.
This one is much less aggressive than doran rock, but it has a more solid midgame plan, backed up with disruption to hold the ground in the early turns.
This is a list i netdecked from Wizard site, and my only change to it was a Withered Wretch in SB to wish(hugely needed imo, yixlid doesnt cut it vs non-dredge decks relying in GY).
Contested cliffs, while looking like a laughable choice, turns most of your stuff into free removal, creating card advantage and removing opponent's win conditions(Spiritmonger beats just ANYTHING in the game right now),wich are getting more and more scarce due to relyance on goyfs.
What changes would you make to this deck?If anything i would start adding a land, maybie even hitting 61 cards, because,at 22 lands the chance of being forced to mull due to mana screw(even if you run 4 birds and 4 sakura...)is there. |

If you're running Wretch as a SB option vs Dredge, you better pack the full 4 or run him main deck. By the time you wish, either Akroma's beating in your head, or they're just looking for a draw spell. Just take the game 1 loss, and accept the 7+ card SB option. You pretty much have to.
That aside, I haven't tested the main deck, but it looks ok. I like the red splash for FTK. |

wretch is not vs dredge(altho it can help lock the lategame),it is vs rock/giftrock/tron/most non-dredge decks wich use the GY.
As a side note, red splash also allows the use of Contested Cliffs, wich is amazing. |

| there are x^n cards that could be added, and garruk along with the 4th duress are on top of list, the problem, and the why i posted this,is because the question is what to remove for them. |

I would think that you only need one Spiritmonger as a wish target. That would make room for Garruk in the main at least. Garruk with bouce lands or signet lands may seem a bit slow but, I would main deck at least one. It is just so good with Garruk. With folks leaving there Vindicates at home it just seems good. Plus bounce lands have proven their worth in decks with a low land count. You do need a way to deal with your worst matches.
Dredge, Ideal, and Flow seem like that would be really bad. Ideal can be wished for Teeg+Witness should help a lot. Have you thought about Harmonic Sliver as a wish target? It is smaller then stomphowler. I just think that it would be faster for the flow matchup. It is really key to answer there turn two Flow with something. Dredge seems like an auto-loss in game one. After sideboard Leyline of the Void, seems a lot better.
Do you have any matchup records to post. I am pretty interested in the deck. |
