|
|
At the ptq in Dallas i made top 8 with the Dumb burn list.
It was 161 people with 8 rounds. I went 6-1-1 and lost first round of top 8 to RGU aggro which out tempo-ed me, but those were 2 of my worse hands all day but hey... he won fair and sqare.
Anyways, i wasn't even the only one playing it, i think there were 3 or 4 copys of the deck, and i think 1 also was in top 8.
Round 1 vs Mono black random no offense(2-0)
Round 2 vs Beast Rock(2-1)
Round 3 vs UG Tron(2-1)
Round 4 vs Mirror(2-0)
Round 5 vs Next Level Blue(2-1 and he was a cry baby, guy pissed me off with his smart ass comments and telling me i was luck sacking having all that burn!)
Round 6 vs Beast(0-2)
Round 7 vs Domain(2-0)
Round 8 vs my friend playing aggro loam(ID)
My friend made seconded place with a good version of aggro loam.
Now i don't think the deck is "good." But it just wins, low on the skill level ladder and is really cheap. It is a very strong metagame call since most decks can't deal with the burn to the face that well. Thank you Sterbi, you defenitly get credit for the orignal desing in this particular season. The Tech is Shratenel Blast. |

congrats man, i was there but left before top 8 was done. my friend (from tulsa) was the other guy who made top 8 with monored burn. he lost to turn 3+turn 4 hierarchs game 1 and similarly fast draws g2 against trinket doran. i'm pretty sure you were the guy in the spurs jersey right? i think my friend's sb was like 3 sulfuric vortex, 3 ingot chewer, 4 leyline of the void, 2 tormod's crypt, 3 pithing needle. care to share yours?
for the record, i played death cloud but put in a trinket mage package instead of liliana. it was a terrible call and i scrubbed out. |

Yup, i was in the spurs shirt(san antonio represent).
My list was like this:
lava spike 4
spark elemental 4
keldon marader 3(should of been 4)
Incinerate 4
rift bolt 4
flames of the blood hand 4
mogg fanatic 4
char 1
shratnel blast 4
magma jet 4
shard volley 3
ghitu encampment 1
great furnace 4
darksteel citidel 3
Blinkmoth nexus 4
mnt 5
barbarian ring 4
Sb:
sulfuric vortex 3
ensarning bridge 3
pithing needle 3
blood moon 2
tormods crypt 4
I beat your friend round 4 2-0. he told me i luck saced, which i did a little, but the secert to the mirror match is to be on the draw, which i was both games when i lost the roll. Being on the draw as key to being sure to burn him out by turn 4 both games.
Top 8 list prolly won't be out for a few days
1st: Rgb Deck Wins
2nd: aggro loam
3-4th: RGU aggro
3-4th: trinket mage doran rock
5-8: Dumb burn
5-8: Dumb burn
5-8: affinity
5-8: rockish(????) maybe not, i missed it since i was playing ect.
It was fun! |

yeah i think my friend's list was like +1 marauder, -1 flames, -1 char, +1 shard volley, -1 ghitu encampment, +1 mountain. 4 of my friends played the same maindeck.
also, i was hanging around late in the day watching a lot of matches in a black track jacket w/red+white stripes and jeans, with brown hair. you prob don't remember me tho cuz there were lots of railbirds. |

That's fucking hilarious. I love it. Congrats guys. This burn deck seems to be the real deal. Which is a little scary cause my deck doesn't not like facing that shit. lol
Oh well, congrats anyways. |

| So you say that the odds of his opp having mox, bop, land, land, non-land to remove with mox, loxodon, loxodon in a 7 cards hand are higher than he having 1 fucking mogg fanatic in hand? Of course his hand could be missing a loxodon or even a land and he could have drawed them turn 1, 2 or 3 but still it's pretty hard. If Hawk was playing first he could actually beat a hand like that: turn 1 fanatic, turn 1 land, mox, bop. turn 2 land drop play something, attack and sac fanatic to kill bop, turn 2 land, turn 3 land turn 3 land loxodon resp flames of the blood hand and turn 4 the same. |
