Anybody else think that Wizards is making card combinations a little bit too obvious? I know this is a tribal and creature-based block, but come on, allow us to have some creativity of our own. |

Every block has some wide and some narrow mechanics.
Champion is intended to be a narrow, tribal based mechanic. If anything, the "Champion a <this> or <that>" widens the mechanic, because in the first set it was just focused around a single tribe. Now a treefolk might find its way into your warrior deck or a warrior might find its way into your treefolk deck, etc.
Lorwyn actually feels very wide open after having suffered through WotCs last attempt at tribal (Lorwyn). |

| What I'm saying is that it's so obvious that this card was created to be played specifically with Doran that it's painful. |

I think that they are trying to get peeps to cut Shriekmaw and Garruk from Doran.Dec.
My guess is that most players will keep their lists pretty much the same. I know there are some great new sb cards. I have not really seen alot that is main deck though. Time will tell. |

Not with the current Doran decks or the ones at worlds. Only treefolk or warrior they run is Doran itself. |

Couldn't most decks just fish out an answer for it the turn after you drop it, or worse yet, fish out that final piece they needed? If you can get it down as an instant maybe, but that's a lot of work. |

Well the game has to change somehow. It wouldn't be fun if the same decks won all trials over and over. More strategies have to be created. That's why I love lorwyn block, because there are so many different strategies.
Btw, Maralen can be good vs. control and UB mannekin, since she stops card drawing, stoping cards like Ancestral Vision, Shadowmage Infiltrator, Mulldrifter, Think Twice And the draw effect from Cryptic Command. |

the fact that it has trample is the only thing that makes it good in constructed. it's a limited omfg windmill bomb... but thats another story.
the 5cc 10/10 flyer with -champion a smokebraider- is the best card so far.
the prowl mechanic is VERY cool
kinship is solid
the white lord is also fantastic. |

I agree, Maralen of the Mornsong is a pretty interesting card. Unstoppable Ash just caught my attention and pissed me off. |
