Grand Prix Vancouver is coming in in February. I live in driving distance and would really like to go. My problem? I've never played a serious game of extended. Where's a good place to start? Thanks in advance.

i think the first thing you should do, because i was in this same boat a few months ago, first read up on what sets are allowed in extended(7th and up) and next check the decks from past Ext. tourneys on ere and look at your metagame. that's is how i usually prepair for tourneys and M-L is usually pretty good with matching up with the metagame irl.

Find decks from recent tournaments and figure out how they work, know what cards people use, know what cards people sideboard in against certain decks.
Wizard's Tournament Center has decklists and game reports.
Star City Games has decklists and critiques.
Brainburst has strategy articles.
Play people on here as much as you can to learn a lot very quicklyl.

When does Extended rotate? And what rotates? I remember playing real duals in extended (not because revised was legal, but because you just could).

Extended Rotates October 20th, 2008 with the next type two rotation. Invasion Block, Odyssey Block and Onslaught Block will rotate out along with Seventh Edition. No more Duress, Cabal Therapy, Pernicious Deed, Goblins or Fetch-lands. This makes me very sad.

No more Psychatog. This makes me happy!

If you are worried about Vancouver or the upcoming Ext season, then don't bother worrying about rotation. Anyway, I think the best place to start is probably just the most recent results - read all of the Pro Tour Valencia coverage.

I suggest watching PT Valencia webcast and PE replays on MODO as a n easy way to get familiar with the format. Otherewise... test, test and test some more! gl

Standard is The last two blocs (coldsnap except) + Base edition. I wonder what is the real définition of Extended ! Not just a list of autorized Bloc and base editions. Is it the 4 years old editions and bloc ?
