Is there a way to create a league that would allow you give everyone in the league a set number of packs. And then add to their library every so often?

What I would like to do is this:

1: create a league in which everyone starts out with 8 packs of cards.
2: each week everyone will be given an opponent.
3: everyone will play their opponent in 3 games. (or 5)
4: every win will earn that player an additional pack of cards.

Is it possible to do this through Workstation or octagon or some other data base program?

Shawn

sounds like a fantasy football league.

Theres a way, hell you could do it through the site or someone can easily script something to do that through mIRC. The key thing is doing it through magic-league or in a way not to threaten magic-league in any way.

they had this on the other site im not supposed to say but it starts with an O and ends with gaming, im not sure how it turned out bc that site was terrible and deserved to become obsolete, but you would have to run it through the site and its really complicated, and i dont think their going to do it, too many other things to do with the site that are more important than this

I guess I wasn't looking for a large site wide organization, but something that could be conducted on a smaller scale.

I was wondering how it might work for smaller groups. Say 10 people take part in this idea and play it out for a while then restart the whole process over with a new set.

Their are a number of things that appeal to me about this idea.
1: Everyone starts even in cards.
2: More cards are gained through ability to play (not how much of ones paycheck they want to dump into the game)
3: Rare cards are really rare.
4: I think this would be a fun way to experience a mtg block. Play for a few months and then start over with another block.

Workstation didn't seem to keep track of the number of cards in its deck editor. This would be helpful if it did. I'm not looking for a system that would make it impossible to cheat just one that makes it easy to keep track of what cards a person had.

I'm not looking for a system that would be impossible to cheat at because I'm looking to find people who what to play for the fun of it and not the kind of people who want to win at all cost (cheating).

But I also need a system that is easy to keep track of cards. One that would keep honest players from making mistakes about the cards they had (accidental cheating)

it would be a small tiny game, you could do through irc. Despite the "expert" opinion of lennin, it really wouldn't be all that hard. You could run it through a small group, use a script to sort the packs into cards and keep info for who has what, etc.

Have like, if you win, you get random 15 cards, if you lose, you have to give up 15 or soo cards. Soo you could eliminate people.

What I had in mind wasn't a tournament but something more like a magic "season". I'm a football fan and you'll see where that has inspired this idea.

1. Lets say we have ten players.
2. Each one starts with 8 packs of cards.
3. Every week you get one opponent and play five games.
4. For every win that player would get a pack of cards, expanding on their deck and play options. (If the series was one player took 2 games and the other took 3 then one player geta 2 packs and the other 3)
5. at the end of the "season" you would have a tournament that every one would be included in. The top two players with the best record would each get a bye.
6. The prizes for those who win the final tournament.
1st would get one extra life (21) to start each game in the next season. and two extra packs of cards in the next season. and able to keep one rare one uncommon and one common card that was acquired in that season, for use in the next season.
2nd would get two extra packs of cards and keep one card that they acquired for use in the next season.
3rd would get one extra pack of cards for next season.
7. Season one would start with Beta. Season two would star with beta and then introduce antiqties and dark. Season three would start with the iceage block. and so on.
8. I also pictured a draft at the begining of each season after everyone had opened their new cards. You would have 30 random cards and the worst player in the league would pick a card first and so on down the line. This would help out those players who didn't do as well.

I like the idea i just need a way to keep track of the cards that people would have and be acquiring along the way and a way to allow people to trade along the way.

The start of the season would start out like a sealed deck with everyone playing the best with what little they had. But by the end of the season people would have the cards to build that perfect deck if they had been playing well.
