It becomes a potentially lucrative issue in a blink deck with some combinations of Soul Warden, Momentary Blink, and Aven Riftwatcher.

Suppose I play Changeling Hero and have it champion my Changeling Berserker. After the stack has cleared, I play Momentary Blink on the Changeling Hero. Both changelings come into play as new creatures, and I think their Champion requirements go onto the stack simultaneously set to resolve in the order I choose. Can I have them champion the same target?

Also, if I bounce my opponent's champion creature right after it comes into play while the removal effect is still on the stack, does the championed creature get stuck removed from game?

well, considering the champ trigger doesnt target but is chosen as the ability resolves, you cant chose the same creature to remove from game for both of them, as when the first trigger resolves you choose any of the creatures you have in play. Then the second trigger resolves, and you only have 2 creatures left (assuming you only had 3 creatures in play after the resolution of blink) you have to choose the one thats has already triggerd, or sac the other

First of all: Changeling Hero, championing a Changeling Berserker. You play momentary blink on the Hero. Hero is removed from the game, and returned to the game. The Berserker is also returned to the game.

You now have two champion triggers on the stack. Each one resolves separately. You must choose a creature to champion with each one at the time it resolves, not one creature for both.

Second, if you bounce the opponents champion creature before the champion remove-a-creature effect is still on the stack, the effect will resolve and they will now have to choose whether to sacrifice it or remove another creature from the game. Since the creature has returned to their hand, they can choose the "sacrifice it" part and nothing will happen since it is no longer in play. The actual removal of the creature doesn't happen until the champion CITP trigger has fully resolved.

why dont u just play a champion, and champion some random dude or token

then play another champion critter, champion the other champion.

finally play a 3rd champion and champion the champion and when he leaves ull get the first back and repeat.... but first have a pandamonium out Razz

3 champions + warden or pandemonium = gg.

if u have a champion over champion adn blink champ A...

champ A will leave paly and return.
champ B will return
both A and B will trigger saying "sac this or champ sumthin"
champ A chooses to champion B. B then resolves and u can choose to "sac this" but theres nothing to sac.
u could also choose to champion another creature instead of choosing "sac". but then that creature would be stuck in rfg with nothing in paly that would bring it back to play.

use vedalken shackles to gain control of a guy. play a champion. put champion on the stack. vedalken mastermind your champion back to hand. their guy will be RFG'd.

easier.... play oblivion ring with vedalken mastermind.

Ah, you're all right. Rule 410.4 agrees with my thinking that you pick a triggered ability's mode and targets when it goes on the stack, but rule 410.5 says the "may..." and "until..." nomenclatures are the exception.

That is so awesome. Do you suppose we'll see an errata on Ring for this? E.g. make the return effect a triggered ability added to the removed card, or make the removal an "... until..." effect similar to Sower of Temptation?

Here's a procedural error question: I have a Changeling Berserker championing another Changeling Berserker. I Blink the Berserker with the end result that I get to pick two targets to champion. I unceremoniously yank a Mulldrifter and a Forbidding Watchtower (in creature form). I then attack with one Berserker without specifying whether it's the one that championed the Mulldrifter or the Watchtower, and my opponent doesn't ask. On his turn, my opponent zaps the Berserker that is still untapped. How do we decide whether I get back the Mulldrifter or the Watchtower?
