I've programmed 3 planeswalkers so far, and they are very different. I wrote a new program that lets you play Magic against the computer using the rules. Right now there are 400 cards available. You can play in three modes: constructed (all the cards), sealed, and draft.

The card set is the best of Magic, and includes such cards like Ancestral Recall, Juzam Djinn, Flametongue Kavu, Man-O'-War, all the moxes, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Keiga, the Tide Star, as well as favorites likes Wrath of God, Psychic Blast, Serra Angel, Wrath of God, Damnation.

I wrote this program because I wanted to play fast, quick games against the computer. Even though the AI is basic, the computer can topdeck some great cards, so I think it feels realistic.

E-mail me any comments good and bad, I want to make it the best I can.

Oops. When the cards are returned from all the graveyards to play some of the cards abilities trigger for their owner instead of their controller. It is just a one line fix for each card, but I do still have some bugs. Hopefully the rest of the cards work correctly. --Forge

I've programmed 14 new cards as well as a few from Lorwyn. I'll be updating my website soon with the new version. And remember, MTG Forge downloads all the card art for you Smile

I really enjoy this program. The problem is that when I Open the Deck Editor for a Constructed game, I just get blank entries on both the "available cards" and the deck proper. I do have a MacBook for this program, so that may or may not be a factor...but I look forward to building my own decks rather than the pre-built and pre-generated ones...can somebody please help me?

P.S. I've noticed some quite irrational decisions the computer player makes when playing against an opponent with a Stuffy Doll--it acts as if it were a 0/1 Serf or Sheep token. By the way, how can I program more cards? Sheep got me thinking that I might want Ovinomancer!

Hi, let me try to answer you question.

This is probably my fault. From the menu select "New Game - Constructed" then the cards will show.

The computer is not perfect, especially when playing odd cards like Stuffy Doll. Hopefully the computer is usually passable. Like you are playing your younger brother, lol.

A new version is out, 14 new cards. Have fun playing with Thoughtseize. And for whats it worth my program has been awarded a "no virus or malware award" from Softpedia. http://mac.softpedia.com/progClean/MTG-Forge-Clean-27357.html

Unfortunately, I am at a loss to do as you say for issue one (the cards not showing up) because I get "menu" and it gives me "Download Pictures" and two other items which I cannot remember, either of which are "New Game". The screen shows "New Game" and then select-the-dot options for Constructed, Sealed, and Draft below. Might you please be able to clarify?

This new version seems interesting...where can I get it? (I tried downloading one from your link twice, and I did not see any Thoughtsieze).

Thank you so much.

You should be able to download it from http://www.mediafire.com/?eq4tzbwnx0t The most current version is 10-18-2007. If you are using Windows you want the exe file, since it will setup everything for you. If you are on another platform like Mac, Linux, etc.. download the file 10-18-mtgforge.zip and unzip it all in the same directory. Then double-click on the file run-forge.jar or type "java -jar run-forge.jar"

To download the card pictures select from the first screen that comes up, I call it the New Game screen since it says the words "New Game." The menu is call just "menu" and select "Download Pictures." You have to be online of course for the program to get the card pictures. Hopefully that helps. --Forge

Well I've added 24 more cards making a total of 443 cards. The card pictures are automatically downloaded. And the new download site is here http://www.mediafire.com/?eq4tzbwnx0t You have to wait a few seconds and then the download starts. This program only works on Windows and requires Java, my program will tell you if you need to install Java.
--Have fun, Forge
