Faerie Conclave animation ability reads:

1U- ~ becomes a 2/1 blue Faerie creature with flying until end of turn. It's still a land.

My question is, when does the 2/1 flyer turn back into its normal island-like self? In a recent game my opponent tried to stack the ability in a way that would have the land become animated on my turn and still be able to attack, with out reanimation, during my opponents combat step a turn later. Is this legal?

The continous effect set up by Faerie Conclaves ability lasts until the next Cleanup/Discard Step.

The end phase has two steps: end of turn and cleanup.

During the End of Turn Step, "At end of turn" effects trigger, once.
During the Cleanup Step, "until end of turn" effects end.

An ability with "at end of turn" will watch out for the next isntance of that time. This makes those abilites last like "until the next turn ends"

An ability with "until end of turn" will last until the end of the current turn.

Faerie Conclave is the latter, therefore won't stay animated for long

To emphasize: until end of turn durations can never last beyond the end of a turn.

"until end of turn" means until the real end of the turn --> discard step

"at end of turn" means until the next end of turn step ( the one directly after 2nd main, where you can still play instants and before the clean/up ) starts

so if you activate an ability with "at end of turn" in your an end of turn step, the ability will stay activated until the next end of turn step starts

meaning if you did it in the 2nd mainphase, "at end of turn" triggers the very same turn
