| i am new to legacy so please dont criticize me for my ignorance please. now i have played in generally casual type 1 tournaments (not much power nine, no combos etc) and i wreck the house with affinity. now, although that is true i still hit a silver bullet every once in a while and i have to scoop. i am just wondering, is affinity hosed that much in this format where it cant just goldfish like it can in other formats. it seems that not too many sideboards have the artifact hate that an affinity would cower at. now remember that i haven't played in competitive tournaments, so i am just basing this off of the little i have seen online. could you please explain why affinity doesn't do as good as some may think. perhaps specific match ups. maybe i just haven't been looking hard enough and it is top tier. idk. |

| I do know pernicious deed shows up occasionally, and pernicious deed does hilariously bad things to affinity. |

Its not so much that it gets hosed, its just that goblins(at least in the past I have tested in the Tarmgofy metagame) were just an better aether vial deck. Some commonly played cards do tend to hurt affinity however, especially from Wish boards(ie. Shattering Spree, Ancient Grudge) If you really want to look at a lot of common decks in legacy I suggest you go to mtgthesource.com or http://www.germagic.de/dc/format.php?format=Legacy.
Affinity isn't a bad deck but its not the best either.
p.s.
No skullclamp in legacy idk if you were using that in your vintage version or not. |

Affinity is viable, due to its mad consistancy, but 1.5 really isn't the best format for it, for a number of reasons.
1-There's plenty of combo (TES, Solidarity, Belcher, Enchantress.)
2-The control decks (landstill, rifter) are built to handle fast swarms of creatures, either through wrath effects/deed/humility (see goblins.)
3-The aggro control decks (Goyfthresh, fish, D&T) are also designed with gobblins in mind, as well as tools to shut down the other aggro control decks and perhaps even SB Artifact hate.
4-Gobblins, the #1 aggro deck of the format, tends to have MD tutorable artifact hate. This artifact hate isn't meant for affinity, it's meant to take out Jitte's, Pithing Needles, Chrome Mox's, opposing Vials, and Chalice of the Void. Regardless, against affinity it's very effective. They also run 4 gempalm incinerators in the MD for the gobblin mirror, but once more they're effective against raffinity. To make matters worse, they have more artifact destruction in the sb (usually 2-3 Krosan Grips)!
So, yeah, affinity MIGHT be able to surprise some people and win you a tournament. It's more likely to run into a random burn deck sbing 4 shattering sprees, though, so best of luck. |

| Well the thing is gobos are def. falling off the map right now so that might be a gap affinity can fill. Perhaps with md Chalice of the Void? I am not really sure. Plus THE best deck by far and away is Thresh right now. The m-l meta dosent repersent it but its def. true. |
