now... you are allowed to shuffle manually, by dragging cards facedown... but after you are done u still have to shuffle.... so idk if u can ever win...
ps. who cares... just because its more random than real life.. does eliminate the cheaters.. than again some people cheat anyway |

This has been visited a million times. Look unless you cheat or shuffle bad in real life you will get screwed sometimes too. It's a mix of random owns you and you might play 2/3 minis a day online as opposed to MAYBE 2 a week/month in real life. Anyone who has played 2 tournies a month can probably recall one game they drew especially bad in now when that happens everyday you blame the shuffler.
I goldfished CRET Beltcher like 30 games the other day and got comprable results to the turn 1/2 %'s posted online. Nothing is wrong with the shuffler, sometimes you get unlucky when you play with cards and sometimes your deck is just bad. |

| I'm pretty sure your opponent is using the same shuffler as you. :/ |

yes, but maybe his opponent also uses a proper amount of land, this should be illegal, because only then will the shuffler suck for everyone! |

Too bad MWS doesn't have it's own built-in programming language with which you could make add-ons such as a pile shuffler, etc..
That would be nice. |

You would still have to "randomize"-shuffle your deck after though.... |

Well...I realize it's "random" and everyone has to do the same shit with their decks... But the shuffler makes you add excess lands, where other cards should be. I can run 20 land burn IRL or on apprentice, no problem, 2 curve...on MWS it's ALWAYS 0-1 land hands, i mul'd to 5-6-5 in a league match, disgusting. Burn shouldn't have to run 26 lands to get 2 lands out by turn 2.

there's no "proper" amount of land -_-.

Brottor, as I said in another thread: stop complaining about the shuffler. It is totally unnecesary since the mws shuffler does exactly what the dci wants us to do when playing irl, namely randomnizing a deck, and by that I mean REALLY randomnizing it, not declumping lands and shit like apprentice does. Now, if your deck flunks out on you on a regular basis when using a real randomnizer, and irl you don't get the same result, you might want to revise your way of shuffling, since it looks like you don't perform a proper shuffle, the way the DCI wants it, and that might get you into trouble when playing on a higher rel tournament like ptq/nats/gp.
If you want to know what really randomnizing means you might want to read this . If you can understand this and ome up with a better solution, you are welcome to. Anecdotal evidence is nothing compared to statistics and showing source code.

Yeah, I read that article. And, I am not gonna whine or complain... lol
But, in a way, I think the shuffler is sometimes too random? I dunno... I lost a game, playing 24 lands in a single color deck because I had 1 land in play the entire game. After the game, I checked my library to see just how bad the damage was and had 5 more draws before a second land would have shown up...
I also had a lump of 12 lands right on the bottom of the library, then 2 spells above that, then 6 more lands...
Not that I think anything can be done about it, but I've never, ever had anything like that happen IRL... not saying it CAN'T happen, just that it's really highly unlikely.
But, anyway, the tourney was fun, me and my opp had a good laugh about it and moved on...

Then you either have not played enough games IRL or you are one of those "mana weaver, without proper shuffle afterwards" players that should get a 1 year ban.
In the years I played, I got mana screwed every now and then, it happens, but it also happens to your opponent, so it balances out, (unless he is a big cheat) |

Well, I never said that I never got mana-screwed, just never seen the majority of my lands in a single clump, it's a rare thing no matter how random, or how many times you shuffle...
I mean, in a completely random shuffle (like MWS), however unlikely it may be, there is the slightest possibility that you could have any combination of cards (IRL or Online)...
Would be funny if you had your deck randomly show up in alphabetical order... lol
And, no I don't play all that much IRL, cuz there aren't many people in this locale that play... FNM here is lucky if there are 10 people, ever...
Anyway, getting mana-screwed doesn't bother me in the least. It sucks, but it's part of the game.... What's worse IMO, is when you get a decent hand, but every card you draw afterwards is land, so you have a massive mana base and no spells... but, still, it's part of the game... |

| Well the idea of building a good deck is to minimize the "luck"...but using MWS seems to maximize the luck factor...IRL I pile shuffle, upside down, after a series of other shuffles. Then a series of other shuffles again. Completely unbiased, don't look at any faces of the cards once, nothing. And yes, there's bad draw, but there's good draws too. Same goes to MWS...But if you compared the two...MWS definately has worse draws than a "random" draw IRL. I know there's no use complaining, so I'll stop, sorry Nico. But I believe there's an option of how MWS "shuffles" your deck somewhere, I suggest players who get bad draws (me) mess around with that... |
