my take on UWR control.

so far it's done really well against aggro,and good against control,with no real bad matchups.

It combines some burn and creature power along with scepter pressure/lockdown,not dedicating fully to either,therefore versatile.

All in all it's very similiar to uwr with counterbalance,except i put scepter in that slot,as it is much less situational.

It does lack trinkets,but thats a personal choice.

// Lands
2 [CHK] Mountain (1)
2 [TSP] Island (3)
4 [ON] Flooded Strand
2 [CHK] Plains (2)
4 [RAV] Sacred Foundry
3 [GP] Steam Vents
4 [DIS] Hallowed Fountain
1 [ON] Bloodstained Mire

// Creatures
4 [AP] Lightning Angel
3 [ON] Exalted Angel
4 [PS] Meddling Mage

// Spells
4 [MR] Isochron Scepter
4 [CHK] Sensei's Divining Top
4 [RAV] Remand
4 [7E] Counterspell
4 [PS] Orim's Chant
3 [AP] Fire/Ice
4 [RAV] Lightning Helix

// Sideboard
SB: 4 [TSB] Tormod's Crypt
SB: 4 [SOK] Pithing Needle
SB: 4 [TSB] Disenchant
SB: 3 [9E] Wrath of God

Lands: decent amount of fetchlends(not excessive)with a basic land backup in case of Flow or blastminer(wich will end up being taken care of soon),not much to add.

Creatures:

4 meddling mages,tough choice,but they do give everyone an hard time,if you can understand what they may have in hand.Also obvious synergy with remand,enemy tutors,and combo decks.Also beats face vs control.Also great as scepter guardian by naming their artifact removal.

4 Lightning angels: amazing creature is all i can say,comes swinging right away,mostly unblockable,and sticks around with a 3/4 body blocker,swinging the race/tempo in your favor highly,expecially in pairs.Aggro will have to 2for 1 them,and control cannot ignore them for long.

3 Exalted angels: usually an unmorph seals the game versus aggro,not much to add.

Spells:

4 Top: simply needed,5 fetches help you out with getting what you need.

4 Scepter: Jack of all trades tool,even something as simple as a fire/ice or helix(and obviously chant/counterspell) will give you the victory if not dealt with.Usually wins g1 vs most decks.

4 helix: whats to say?Best control burn spell.

4 remand/counterspell: gives you an edge countering key spells,saving your scepter,stopping combos and such.

3 fire/ice: Very nice and versatile spell,the advantage of hitting a bird and a bob in one turn,does not go unseen.The ice part works as an hinderance/cantrip early game,and spell protection lategame,or simply tap one of their creatures.

4 Orim's chant: tempo advantage,game-changing on itself,and top spell for scepter.

Sideboard:

4 needles,are simply good for almost every deck,affinity,deed,the random cop:red,mindslaver,academy,stops uw dolltron from going off with guilty conscience and more.

4 Tormod's crypt: havnt used those alot lately,but you never know when you find a dredge deck/cephalid wich you NEED to stop from going off as soon as turn 2.

4 Disenchant: Answer to...lot of stuff,also SBed in vs affinity as a 1W vindicate wich can be scepter-ed.

3 Wrath of god: Use this vs Zoo-like decks,with creatures that may be too big/numerous for your burns to take care of.

top with only 5 fetch lands seems less then optimal, id either cut down on the tops of try and work in counter balance to get some more use of out of.

Also; isnt WoG too slow for 1.5 zoo? with only 22 lands (5 of which are fetch) your not guaranteed 4 mana on turn 4 anyway. That compounded with a turn 4 WoG probably not even being enough in the match up, it just does seem too good.

Have you look at those 1.x WUR solution decks that were popular from a few month back? they might also give you some more ideas.

On the whole I like it. I like anything with lightning angel in it Smile

Congratz you built scepter-chant to the letter but you took out the teferi scepter lock and put in lightning angels. Way to make the deck worse. BTW if you don't have wog main you aren't going to win the zoo matchup. You will hardly ever be able to win game 1 without wog main and your chances of winning 2 and 3 after you get wog are slim seeing as their boards will likely wreck yours.
