It's basically last word except a little better. It would probably be played in block and thats it.

Well its terrible and T1 and T1.5, in extended its pretty bad too.

For t2 or block, depending on the other counters in rotation it could see some play. I would think in a slower block/t2 with an abundance of good counters(maybe better counters) this would see more play since it would trump all counters.

If this card was to magically appear in 10th lets say; I would rank it pretty low right now, counters arnt that huge right now so a counter that would fight counters wouldn’t be too hot.

Its a good counter to stop an opponents spell, but its not good counter to protect your own and you generally want a counterspell to do both. I wouldn’t play it, but its notable, id figure UU counterspell is straight better then this and cancel is conditionally.

EDIT: Basically the only difference I can really think of that is better then last word is, if you try and last word a spell, your opponent can remand/vensur his own spell back to his hand. With split second he couldn’t.

yeah there wasnt a big difference from last word and the card which was 2UU split second counter target spell. i think its too much like last word so i just took it off

actually there is a big difference bc if it had split second u cant remand the spell that last word is targeting which makes a hige difference

Let's face it, the difference is slight but a split second counterspell is still slightly better than the effect of Last Word. Plus, I personally think that:

"Split second
Counter target spell."

is just a little nicer than:

"Counter target spell. Last Word can't be countered by spells or abilities."

Which may not even do what it's intended to.

Made worse since Last Word seems overcosted to begin with.
