It actually won a few games on MWS vs random decks.. I know i'm not all that great at making decks, mainly because I don't take any ideas what-so-ever from other peoples' decks/deck ideas, and I don't Net-Deck.

Needs more instants...
Smoother, Last Gasp, and all four Extirpate.
Also why are you not running four Dark Confidant and four Shadowmage Infiltrator? Hypnotic Specter is good but not at all if you can't play it on turn one.
I moved FoW to the sb due to the anti-synergy with Dark Confidant and Psychatog. It is still need in the control mirror. Note that there is no room in the deck for the stick. It is really too slow in Vintage. I would play an avg 'Tog deck. something like this. Look at all of the card draw and hand fixin'. That is what makes Ubg so good.

That is true. I have lost 8 game from poison counters... That makes me sad. I think that the FoW do need to be main. Also it needs more mana and removal. If I miss my third land I am in trouble. Infest is my only out vs Poison Flash and Gobos. I am thinking of more one of's like Krosan Grip. I can always fix my draws with SDT and Brainstorm to keep from taking Bob damage. I mostly will win on turn 5 and that is too slow for Vintage. So I am stuck as to go aggro-combo or control combo. I also thinbk that the deck needs QD as a beater.
If I wanted to go Control
+4 QD, +4 FoW, and +4 Infest...
What should I cut? I have found that Accumulated Knowledge is only good with Gifts Ungiven. Gush has been outstanding and makes me think about adding Manabond/Fastbond to the deck. To plug up the holes in the deck I need turn two Infest vs Poison Flash and Fastbond/Manabond with Gush/Daze/FoW for 43 land control. Stifle seems to be a great card to maindeck as well. |

Because your Vintage deck is aweful, try this list, or just give a once over. It doesn't play Scepter, but uses the lock of Erayo and Dimir Cutpurse. Observe
4 Dark Confidant
4 Dimir Cutpurse
3 Erayo, Soratami Ascendant
4 Stifle
4 Force of Will
1 Shadow of Doubt
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mind Twist
1 Diabolic Edict
1 Chain of Vapor
1 Wipe Away
1 Pithing Needle
1 Extirpate
1 Rushing River
1 Time Walk
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Darkblast
3 Duress
4 Brainstorm
4 Polluted Delta
1 Flooded Strand
3 Wasteland
4 Underground Sea
2 Island
1 Swamp
3 Shadow of Doubt
1 Darkblast
2 Pithing Needle
4 Planar Void
1 Hurkyl's Recall
2 Sword of Light and Shadow
2 Sword of Fire and Ice
Get them with no cards in hand with a flipped Erayo in play and continually attack with Dimir Cutpurse=lock, whatever they play is countered and whatever they don't play is discarded. With four Stifles and Shadow of Doubt and Darkblast, the Flash player will have some difficulties, even more so post sideboard. |

I know my cards- and I don't play competitively- I build decks around what my friends can handle. I choose not to use Moxen or the Lotus.
I like to play fun games that last a while as opposed to 5 or less turns. |

Meh. You're playing "fun games" with Ancestral Recall, Time Walk, and Demonic Tutor? Those aren't "fun" cards, those are Kick Your Opponent in the Teeth cards.
In any case, what you've just said is "I know the cards, I'm just choosing to play a suboptimal deck because my friends can't handle it."
If you're knowingly running a suboptimal list, why did you ask for help improving the deck in the first place? You were given simple advice on how to greatly improve the deck and you said "but I don't wanna!" |
