I'm not a big Extended person so I'm fairly novice to the format but, I've been running this deck for awhile and it seems to be going strong against everything it comes up against.
Braids Rock
creatures - 15
4*Eternal Witness
4*Solemn Simulacrum
4*Loxodon Hierarch
3*Braids, Cabal Minion
Spells - 22
4*Vindicate
4*Duress
4*Pernicious Deed
3*Putrefy
3*Cabal Therapy
2*Sensei's Divining Top
2*Damnation
Lands - 23
4*Flagstones of Trokair
3*Windswept Heath
3*Overgrown Tomb
3*Forest
2*Godless Shrine
2*Temple Garden
2*Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree
2*Swamp
2*Plains
SIDEBOARD - 15
4*Extirpate
4*Chainer's Edict
4*Krosan Grip
3*Rule of Law
The idea basis around the general control premise of "The Rock" with the added addition of Braids to keep the field well under contol for you to flail away with Loxodon Hierarchs. A lot of destruction and hand hate makes the deck very versatile in in handling all sorts of strategies. It can be a simple aggro hoser, discard, or even LD.
Ideas? Have any idea what bad match ups their might be? |

way to be constructive. no really
I would try to work Birds of Paradise in there, simply because it speeds up the deck and is the most common sac to Braids/Therapy target (targeting Solemn is fine, but sometimes you may actually want him attacking/defending).
Even with Hierarch and Deed, I'd worry about being too slow against 5 color Zoo.
I've never tested Rock against UW Tron but it's a very powerful deck, one you should make sure you can beat.
What's your metagame like? |

yeah...BW Braids is better because w/Braids, you're not gonna be playing Heirarchs and Simulacrums too often.
Also, Braids is good ONLY at the beginning of the game, when both players are still trying to stabilize. Most decks nowadays stabilize around 3-4 mana (unless it's control). BW Braids stabilized at around 2-3 mana, which is why it could let Braids stay out on the field forever, playing very little and beating face.
Your deck, on the other hand, stabilizes 'round 3-4 mana, giving your opponent enough time to get situated as well. They have enough permanents to sacrifice while they wait to draw a shock...or putrefy...or w/e to kill the braids you just laid.
Honestly, you'd be better of removing braids entirely because otherwise, she's a dead card for the most part. |
