I was wondering which version of Dredge you think is best. The GBu Dredge as played by Volrath, or a UB version focusing more on speed? Anyone tried them out both?

Both decks:

4 Bridge from Below
4 Dread Return
3 Life from the Loam
4 Delirium Skeins
4 Golgari Grave-Troll
4 Stinkweed Imp
4 Greenseeker
1 Snow-Covered Island
4 Snow-Covered Swamp
5 Snow-Covered Forest
2 Llanowar Wastes
1 Ghost Quarter
1 Bogardan Hellkite
4 Llanowar Mentor
3 Street Wraith
4 Narcomoeba
2 Svogthos, the Restless Tomb
4 Overgrown Tomb
2 Akroma, Angel of Wrath
SB: 4 Darkblast
SB: 4 Leyline of the Void
SB: 4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
SB: 3 Ancient Grudge

I like Volraths version more cause it doesnt loose to a single extirpate on dread return. But i think its just personal feeling Wink

GBU is the best option. Limiting yourself to UB or GB makes you lose several cards that make the deck so much better.

I think BlackGreen version is better. Slower but more consistent. And Volrath89s double success proved that. More threats (Trolls and Svogthos), so more resilient to hate. Less mana issues (Green Seeker and Life from the Loam), because u dont want to try draw a land, and u can usually start with 1 land. No need for drawing into more land thx to green cards (with UB version you need to start with 2-3 lands depending on version - hope u wont see some boom/bust). All green discard creatures are able to start discarding upkeep turn 2.

Posted UB list seems bad to me. One of the reasons for UB should be Glimpse. Its way to start dredging against t1 Seal of Fire, and it is fast as well, faster than blue creature way. I would play Magus, Glimpse and blue rusalka, scrathing Courier and lore Broker. Bonded Fetch is somewhat resistant to darkblast, funeral charms and such, always discarding 1 card, but also costs 3 mana, which could be too much for this deck.

I believe that the BG version is more solid than the other.
The UB versions is more combo than beat-down and a combo like this seems too fragile to me.

i have to stricly disagree i belvie that the blue version has a solid build and with a good player you can really bring the heat on against any deck and the green versoin just isnt as expolsive for me personally (and ive tested both)

Optimal versionis probably somewhere in between. The 8 1cc discarders with 4 magus of the bazaar for power dredging. Mana base might be a bit sketchy but with life from the loam it should work.

street wraith should be in both, why is it sb in UB? its saying you don't want to pay 2 life for a free dredging, ot draw a piece that you need to make happy things happen

because Akroma rocks and Autochthon Wurm sucks.

The GBU dredge looks very solid.
