Because this question has been asked of me one too many times: How does this work?

Answer:

You cast boom (of Boom // Bust) targeting your own Terramorphic Expanse (or one of the old Fetchlands) and targeting one of your opponent's lands.

Before you pass priority, you sacrifice your Terramorphic Expanse.

You now pass priority.

Terramorphic Expanse resolves, and you search your library for a basic land, reveal it, and put it into play.

Boom resolves. It doesn't fizzle because it still has one legal target (your opponent's land), even though your terramorphic expanse (or fetchland) is gone now. A spell is only countered if ALL of its targets become illegal. Your opponent's land is destroyed.

I thought terramorphic expanse is just for a BASIC land... with I know, and "old fetchland" (assuming it s like polluted delta or other like that) is really not a basic land !??!?!

That doesn't matter, if you sacrifice your own targeted land (fetch, wasteland, ghost quarter) Boom/Bust will destroy his land and not yours.

Also, don't mind my sig: that's xfires april fools joke.

I can't read Razz (I didn't saw the "or" ) reading is deck

nonetheless, I think Boom/Bust should be banned (because of Boom obv)... Boom and Flagstones combo is too strong and too fast... if you play second, it's almost as you are dead... I disagree with that...

LOL.

If it should be banned, how come not a single deck that T8ed at the last Pro Tour played it, not to mention five of the decks that DID T8 played Tron, giving them an EXTREMELY weak manabase?

The reason is that a two card combo should be able to have a fairly powerful effect, because of the inconsistancy with which you'll actually get it on turn 2, when you've only seen 9 cards and need A: a land that produces red B: a Flagstones of Trokair and C: Boom//Bust to be in those 9 cards.

There is no reason for this card to be banned. Bannings only happen when a deck takes over the format (I.E. Ravager with Skullclamp). Right now I think Hellkite or Teferi are way closer to being banned than Boom//Bust, and no, they won't ever be banned either.

Banned?? Blue should play spell snare, and aggro better run some 1 drops. Banning the card is a little bit severe when its situational. Severe to borderline retarded. I dont see the meta warping or anything. Lemme know when you do. haha

....and If history is any indicator, the boom side isnt even the stronger. Epicenter, decree of annhilation, desolation angel ('Gedons that dont cost 3w) have seen WAY MORE competitive play than Raze ever did. So, banning is really absurd.

it's a weaker sinkhole. sinkhole wasn't metagame defining.

1) This is not the proper forum in which to discuss this.
2) To use this combo, you must A) be playing white, B) draw boom and flagstones, and C) do this on turn 2. This is in and of itself rather unlikely; you have to draw two specific cards, which isn’t all –that- likely
3) The combo isn’t broken anyway; it isn’t everywhere and it isn’t taking over. Therefore, it won’t be banned.
4) Bust is very strong as well, but I still don’t think it will be banned.

Well, Sinkhole only wasn’t because the moxen were legal. Its still a very, very strong card.
