hey hey
so legacy is hands down my favorite format. only prolem is where i live there is NOBODY that plays it. so i have decided to go to columbus, however i want to do really good not just blow some cash. so i figured i would try and see if we could get maybe some discussion about the vast metagame that is legacy and not necessarily break it with some new deck types but my main goal is too update some of the pre-existing ones to what is predicted to do good. the first deck that comes to mind is a sort of loam build like the one that won the pro tour koby side tournement.

Life From the Loam Control
Yuichi Tanaka
Maindeck:

Artifacts
3 Engineered Explosives
4 Mox Diamond

Creatures
4 Eternal Witness
1 Genesis
2 Loxodon Hierarch

Enchantments
2 Exploration
1 Pernicious Deed
1 Seismic Assault

Instants
2 Krosan Grip
3 Lightning Helix

Sorceries
4 Burning Wish
2 Devastating Dreams
3 Life From The Loam
4 Smallpox
1 Void

Lands
1 Badlands
3 Bayou
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Forgotten Cave
1 Savannah
4 Taiga
4 Tranquil Thicket
3 Wasteland
4 Wooded Foothills

Legendary Lands
1 Volrath's Stronghold

Sideboard:
2 Pithing Needle
4 Red Elemental Blast
1 Crime / Punishment
1 Devastating Dreams
2 Gaea's Blessing
1 Hull Breach
1 Life From The Loam
1 Massacre
1 Perish
1 Pyroclasm

and yet another version that really appeals to me is

Life From the Loam Control
Eric Darland

Maindeck:

Artifacts
4 Mox Diamond

Creatures
3 Eternal Witness
1 Grave-shell Scarab
3 Wall Of Blossoms
3 Wall Of Roots

Enchantments
3 Seismic Assault

Sorceries
4 Burning Wish
3 Cabal Therapy
3 Devastating Dreams
3 Gamble
3 Life From The Loam
2 Roar Of The Wurm

Basic Lands
1 Forest
1 Mountain
1 Swamp

Lands
2 Badlands
2 Barren Moor
2 Bloodstained Mire
4 Forgotten Cave
2 Taiga
3 Tranquil Thicket
3 Wasteland
4 Wooded Foothills

Sideboard:
4 Chalice Of The Void
2 Pithing Needle
1 Cabal Therapy
4 Duress
1 Gamble
1 Hull Breach
1 Life From The Loam
1 Regrowth

the biggest thing that makes me like eric's build is the card gamble. the thought of a first turn tutor is really huge to me. and i know that as a general rule random effects are frowned upon. however i think that in this deck it seems to have found a perfect home. the biggest problem i have with this loam though is that for the first 2 turns or so it doesn't seem like you do that much except set up. aginst a deck like fairy stompy 2 turns is way to long. so my question to the legacy community here is do you think this deck is viable in today's meta and what changes do you feel should be made to it. also so everyone knows i am very serious about learning this format so please serious players only. thanks

Hey,

Thanks for showing interest my deck. I am Eric Darland, this is indeed a very powerful deck; however, it has a very hard combo matchup : / and I abandoned it for that very reason.

Good luck!

You should play ThunderBluff aka TruffleShuffle. It has better matchups, more disruption, and its faster. Now with Damnation and being legal it doesnt need double white. And with the addition of Extirpate your deck is not as good.
