Can someone tell me how this would work? It hasn't happened to me yet, but I foresee the possibility.
Outrider en-kor in play and any other creature under my control
someone lightning bolt or whatever the outrider, damage on stack.
Wording on outrider is {next} 1 damage, I redirect next "x" to other creature. Opponent kills/unsummons/removes other creature.
Does the outrider then have to take the damage or is it redirected because the target was legal at the time I used the ability?
Thanks,

if the object the damage was redirected to becomes illegal on resolution, the original object gets the damage.
Note: This is different from changing the target of a lightning bolt with something like Misdirection. If the new target was gone after misdirection resolved but before bolt, bolt will be countered on resolution for lack of a legal target.

| Even worse, when the damage would be redirected, and the guy you're redirecting to is gone, the original target gets the damage, not just when the ability is illegal. |
