Howdy all, ever since my last FNM where 2 out of 10 played dragon storm, and 2 more afterwards expressed a desire to play it, I realized I'd better come up with a way to either beat it with an existing deck or make a deck that has good game vs the storm and a fair one vs the rest of the field.

At the time I was playing magnivore, let me tell you this match up is one sided. Even though you do slow then down, you're practically always a turn behind. Why's this? Basically cards like Remand and Gigadrowse dodge your wildfire's and otehr painful spells, and even Repeal a lotus bloom isn't overly effective cause you arn't putting a decent clock on them, and secondly you give them free storm to possibly go off with. In g2 I brought in 3 trickbind's that I never drew and that he wasn't expecting Sad.

After thinking about it I could only come up with either a Blue/White control deck or a Mono Black (the one that won the last trial) or B/W discard deck. The problem with Discard is the same problem that most disruption decks have, you don't kill them quickly enough after you cripple them, it's like tripping someone and not immediately stepping on them till they're done. As with the UW deck, I haven't really seen any that have a good game against DS other then MartyrTron. Anyways here's a deck I made to beat DS.

//NAME: Untitled Deck
3 Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
3 Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
3 Draining Whelk
3 Triskelavus
4 Rune Snag
4 Remand
4 Rewind
4 Think Twice
4 Careful Consideration
4 Wrath of God
4 Flagstones of Trokair
1 Plains
5 Island
4 Hallowed Fountain
4 Adarkar Wastes
4 Azorius Chancery
2 Academy Ruins
SB: 1 Circle of Protection: Red
SB: 4 Trickbind
SB: 3 Peace of Mind
SB: 3 Condemn
SB: 4 Jester's Cap

Rewind=Beats Gigadrowse
Careful+Think Twice= Instant speed card engine, never have to risk tapping out the counter magic.
Grand Arbiter+Teferi=Pain in the ass for DS, main phase giga's are hard to pull off unless you have 10 kagillion storage lands.
Draining Whelk=Way to disrupt the combo and present a clock, either by countering seething song to prevent them a turn or by trickbind the DS then Whelk the Original gives you a 10/10 to win the game with.

SB:
Peace of Mind=Lets you pitch redundant or useless cards to get above 26, good vs storm and aggro.
Jesters Cap=Doesn't DS have a problem winning if they only have two dragons? Dont' forget 2 Academy Ruins increases the odds of recusion.
Trickbind=Obviously.
Cop Red= It was a 1 of slot I had to fill, good vs aggro.
Condemn= Good vs aggro and control.

Cards Considered
Priveldged Position to stop gigadrowses, and Ivory Mask to stop the instant death aspect of the combo. And finally, SWIFT SILENCE FTW.

Conclusion
Well thats what I got so far, I don't imagine the deck is top notch, but possibly a B or B/W or B/G discard deck with Hypnotic Specters might stand a chance vs dragon storm, possibly if theyr'e accelerated out on turn 2? Discuss plz, I hate playing against this deck, both from a fun point of view and the fact I lose to it a lot, and I'm sure some of you do to.

I thought you could use the waylay trick to get a Shadow of Doubt through once EoT goes on the stack.

unless you're running a u/* deck, who on earth would honestly expect you to have a shadow of doubt??

if you are running a u/* deck, then why don't you gigadrowse their lands at the beginning of their upkeep?? take care of all red sources and there you go!

I've found vs DS that one card answers don't usually work. And I'm not sure about the waylay. Shadow would be preety cool in discard, since they're be so busy trying to assemble there combo they probably wouldnt eot giga you.

The Mono U snow deck that splashed for skred has a good matchup against it. Lots of permission, + teferi. As long as you don't mana screwed the deck is pretty resilient against Dstorm.

martyr of sands helps vs dragonfire and backup with a wrath next turn usually ends the game if you can pick up the aggro after that

well, I'm not going to do the play by play on how to beat it, that's what playtesting is for. but there are a lot of tools in the snow deck that helps you heat d storm. for 1, a well timed remand helps them not go off if they are playing the rituals and/or blooms. rune snag is even better if they tap out for a seething song. now, if they are playing gigadrowse, you have to dig for those rewinds. so when they target your land 4 mana, and let them tap each one, until only the last one is on the stack, then you can rewind it, and untap 4 lands, which will leave you with enough mana to trickbind. teferi also stops gigdrowse cold. it's all about patience and timing in this matchup.

temporal isolation fucntions really well against DS. When a hellkite comes into play, put the trigger on the stack and tehn put the isolation on it. it wont deal its dmg
