Jlax, where's your SIG??? I didn't make it so you could not use it...! lol.

@ everyone else: Wow, you guys sure are in an uproar about this. I have no opinion really, as I'm not a judge, but I feel someone has to be the voice of impartiality here so it might as well be me.

Speaking as a ML player I would like to see more minis. But as the Rolling Stones put it 'you can't always get what you want'. That's fine. I don't mind as ML is free and I'll take whatever I can get. That said...

To be the Devil's Advocate (Craze's Lawyer) IMO he's only talking to the Judges he feels are skirking thier responsibilities or otherwise taking advantage of being a Judge. I think that by suggesting outlandish statutes and rules he knew would never see the light of day, he was just trying to call attention to his main point: There aren't enough minis. Well, I'd say he accomplished this as there was resounding feedback and now everyone knows how he feels.

On the side of everyone else; It's like this...I'm a member of ML. No one knows who I am. I'm a decent artist, so I put up examples of my work so people can see it and maybe I can do some sigs for them. I do it for free, I don't get paid. There are no benifits in it for me. The only thing I get is the appreciation of the people I've done work for. It's the same for the judges...they don't get paid. They do it in thier free time. If they do it so they can get points then fine, I'd say it's a small compensation for running a FREE online tourney or 4. I think we (Craze) should ask ourselves if we might be taking advantage of what's effectively a gift.

Having said all that...What I have done is take the Judges test. Maybe I passed and maybe I didn't, who knows? But I can say that if (when) I am a judge, I'll run TONS of minis.
Just for the sheer joy of being useful Smile And no, that isn't a shameless plug to try and get me through the gauntlet of test scoring and training faster, it's just an example showing that there are alternatives to randomly bitching about free shite. (and I know Craze failed the judge test, but there are other people who read this thread and don't post, and maybe they share his opinion...so the example is for them too)

Well that was awfully long and rather tiring, so I'll leave you fellas to it. caio.

Alot of you seem to think I'm bitching about this...
Well your wrong...to bitch I'd have to care...And why should I care? No one else seems to care about anyone but themselves...why should I be different? No wait, I'm going off subject...

Fact is, I don't care myself, whether every judge on here is bad or not...but what I do care about is an interesting arguement/subject to talk about. And I found one...
How? I heard people bitching about it...at first I hesitated and just was thinking about it...and it made sense...
My ideas cause alot of damage...ML would lose 2/3rds of their judges(of course about a half will go in a month anyway so whats the difference?) Not just would ML lose alot of judges but it would never hire that many judges....but it wuld get some...and their would be enough minis...guess thats a bad thing.

What I am(or was when I hoped someone would read this and agree helping me get this past)hoping for is that judges would try different methods to remain getting points...I listed Ideas on how in past posts...and these ideas would more or less actually increase the number of minis run...of course thats also(I guess) a bad thing.

And now to address the crowd...starting with nico...

If you don't have a lot of time, and still take time to do at least a little time to do something constructive, you are doing a good thing. Ppl with lots of time on their hands that only complain, and don't do anything constructive, well, that is a different story

if your reffering to me I would like to point out that I do things constructive to help the league.(In fact this was a suggestion that IMO would help the league...)and I'd do more things to help the league too if I could...you want me to help just msg me...I'll do almost anything being I don't care...but I do do stuff...moderate(not a big thing but it is helping nevertheless) Then theirs that whole thing with Hamachi...

You are right, the judges don't serve you, they just give you an opportunity to play in online tourneys, and they are for free.
About the idea of tc's being active in multiple tourneys: ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND?????????
if that would be allowed, there would be lots more problems because they would need to concentrate on two different things that even run on different timers. This has proven to give problems in the past, and has resul;ted in the rule that it is not allowed to run a tourney while playing in another one.

meh, that I didn't know and I admit being wrong about...

And do rulings and process flipped matches, check unconfirmed matches

rulings done in #judges4you
how long does reporting flipped matches take exactly?
Unconfirmed matches...yes I see your point there.

offering byes is not fair towards the players that have played a trial to get the byes. The only thing that would happen is that more people would try to become a judge, just to have another chance at byes.
I know that that would result in more minis, but also in a lot of dropped minis.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but don't you dejudge judges for leaving their minis?
And if you passed all three acts it balences out...
When thinking about becomeing a judge you now have to go:
hmm....I have to host 12 minis a month and can't earn a single point from doing so...then I have to outhost other judges JUST to get the bye. Is that worth it? Most bad judes would say "NO"
I would do it, and I'm guarenteeing a few other current judges would do it...but would more people want to become a judge? Doubt it, and if they did then they can replace the 90% of bad judges that drop out...

Quote:
Well, if there i one person that is bitching, that person would be you. As said by other people before: why don't you become a judge yourself?

Rules...I'm not all that great with them...I mean I'm not stupid, I judt get them confused some times...
But basically I'd host more minis then everyone else and never quit one(outside of being forced to by a storm)...but that pesky test owns me....oh well...

oh and I'm not bitching...

Please dont call me a bad judge because your rules are dumb as hell... And obviously the majority would not want to even run minis resulting in even LESS minis therefor destroying the WHOLE point of this thread.

Blake, if you were a judge and you wanted points with these 3 rules being passed wtf would you do? You would strike deals with judges...or make plans etc..You can find ways around anything and odds say enough judges would ths increasing our minis...

And what if the prize for the most minis held a month was a month of not having to worry about Act 2. You host more minis then anyone else and you can earn points from your own minis for a month...this would result in a LOT more minis..

I can see both your point of views. However, I have noticed that many judges simply hang out in the chat rooms all day, so it's not like they don't have the time for minis.

At least make it 6-8 minis per month.

I have been a J1 since Wednesday the 7th. I have run 14 minis with a total of 155 players. I have played in 3 or 4 of them I think. They have been mostly 16 max, with 2 8max drafts. I tried a 32 max but only got 10. It is a shame it is 12am when I normally TC, but that is what different time zones do to ya.

Satisfying?

This is an old topic, however, I feel the need to address it.

The fact that most of you whiners are American has a lot to do with this. Not because of the general consensus of what we are, but rather I'm looking at the time we're online. I've seen most of the whiners in question only active in the evening/night (9pm-2am CST). For most Americans (and I stress the word most) we have jobs, school, etc the next day, or circumstances prevent us from being online as long as we would like. I see the least amount of channel activity at this time (70-110 users on average). This, I surmise, is the reason you are complaining, that the least amount of judges are active when you are. There's absolutely no way that there are a lack of tournaments. At the times that many Americans are not active, there are on average 2-4 tournaments running simultaneously at any given time.

I should suggest that you either make efforts to be online when you are not normally online, in order to play, or else become a judge yourself if you are not currently one. Don't bother whining about a problem that doesn't exist. Remember that tournaments are started by judges, not heated debates on the forums.

since RT revived this old topic....

Average amount of tournaments:

38.03/day (going by the last 30 days)
31.96/day (going by the last year)

That's around 1.5 minis an hour. If that's not enough, too bad.

When this topic was originally created, there were not enough minis. But now, with all of the new judges, there are definitely enough minis.

Laplie, you are correct in saying that there are enough minis, but 1.5 an hour isn't important. What is important is how many there are during the important hours(afternoons in USA and afternoon-time Europe). During these hours, there are often 4 or more minis, which is why now there are enough. Who cares what happens 3:00 in the morning?

And what happened to Craze?

Most of time i see lots of judges doing nothing on the channel... and most of time when that happens there is no mini's running... so i think that they must do a minimum number of 10 minis per week and not per month or whatever...

@snoopster

There was a slump towards the end of the summer. Minis went down to about 22/day . But now they're up again.

Are you kidding? that's at least a 30 hour/week commitment (if all 10 were 8 max). Most people don't have that kind of time because of school/work/life. Even the most active judges don't reach 40+ minis a month. Maybe 2-3 judges do.
