Hi. I am trying to build a mono-red deck for extended. I believe mono-red can be a better choice than boros deck wins because:

1. In Aggro/Aggro matchups, Sac/Dual lands put you behind in the damage race, although I realize that they put forth bigger threats. I do not feel comfortable with punishing myself so much.
2. Having a more stable mana base allows for blinkmoth nexus, an excellent evasive answer to ground stalemates and wrath effects. He also functions as a colorless source of damage, which is important to the pro-red cards, such as CoP: Red.
3. You can more easily run double red casting cost cards, such as Jaya Ballard, Task Mage.
4. Molten Rain and other LD won't hurt as bad, since you can't be color screwed and won't get shocked by Molten Rain.

Taking these advantages in mind, you would lose all of your 2 power one drops (Isamaru,Lions) along with Goblin Legionaire and Lightning Helix. I realize these are powerful cards, and I will not lie to myself saying that a Red deck can supply the same kind of threats. I will however, say that a Mono-Red deck can produce a more controllish deck with more answers to creatures and more resistant to creature hate.

4x Grim Lavamancer
4x Magus of the Scroll
3x Frostling
4x Hearth Kami
3x Goblin Skycutter
4x Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
2x Dragon Whelp

4x Firebolt
4x Volcanic Hammer
2x Char
2x Demonfire

4x Blinkmoth Nexus
4x Bloodstained Mire
4x Wooded Foothills
12x Mountain

I am currently working on a sideboard. Please post your comments on how you think this deck would work in the metagame, along with what direction it should go, such as adding more land destruction, esnaring bridge, and the like.

4x Chrome Mox
3x Blinkmoth Nexus
3x Wooded Foothills
3x Bloodstained Mire
10x Mountain

4x Grim Lavamancer
3x Frostling
4x Slith Firewalker
4x Hearth Kami
2x Arc-Slogger

4x Molten Rain
4x Pillage
4x Char
4x Volcanic Hammer
4x Firebolt

I agree with the changes and the reasons for them. I added Arc-Slogger as a finisher, and I wish for further suggestions to make the deck better.

the ponza theme sounds good to me, butplz cut the frostling, it was not even good enought for T2. Also i would recommend magma jet > volcanic hammer to get quality (bring down lands aswell as unneeded ld in the ladegame).

i would play at least 3 slogger, maybe 4, because he's a bomb.

next point, i dislike the kami, and hell, how good is zozu the punisher against fetchlands?

i wont recomment a list because i havent tested, just thoughts Smile

-3 mountain
-3 frostling
-2 slogger
-2 hammer

+4 magama jet
+1 of each fetch land
+3 sulfuric vortex

you need only 22 lands.

Shattering Spree will be good at side against ravager, scepter-chant and jitte.

ensanring bridge against MGA and boros.

the main problam of this deck the are paladin, priest and silver knight. you can't win boros unless you start with 2 LD spells in you'r first hand.

slogger cost too much. you don't want to get to 5 lands in play at this deck.
