Lol. its not like that man... =\. Meddling Mage? I just named Burning Wish and it was GG. It locks much more than just naming Desire. And if you get a second Meddling Mage you can name Tendrils or Desire and then its definitely GG.

Pay Kicker against Desire? Duh? Do you use Creatures?

IF i'm playing against desire (probably with 4 stifles, since now its a very known and used archetype) and i have stifle in hand I'll EVER have mana open. A Desire to one card cant hurt anyone. Sometimes i even try to mulligate to 5, or even 4 cards because an Stifle is completely GG.

So, just playtest a little before posting Rolling Eyes

Desire is a good deck, but it can easily be hated. Of course, depending on the hate, good players can win anyway... But a Meddling Mage difficults a lot their game.

(BTW, Dwarven Blastminer is good too. I forced my opponent to try the combo on turn 2, and he fizzled.)

firstly, vs ritual desire stifle is MUCH better than trickbind. Why? Because it stunts your development less (I am hoping you do not want to tap out vs them). However, they are both unreliable answers due to the central role duress plays in their deck. At least if the dures chant you can cast it ir and buy another turn. The cards that really answer ritual desire are the ones that stay on the board. I recommend Meddling Mage or Arcane Laboratory. If you have the sideboard slots, use them for these cards, not inneffective catch all solutions like stifle.

Just would like to point out that Rule of Law as a white Arcane Laboratory would work too.

Meddling Mage cuts their win % down about 50% for each on one the board, you do the math.
Arcane Lab + Counterspell in hand = GG (also rule of law)
Stifle/Trickbind I have found to be innefective because many Ritual players bring in Orim's and if you play control they have plenty of time to wait for Orim's, cast it in upkeep and win many times unless you get lucky with some double disruption or easly beats. They still come in from the board if I have them but they are more there for stifling Decrees to be honest, they just happen to maybe be an answer for Ritual if they scrub out or are under pressure to go off unprotected.
Time Stop, just kidding.

Anything that works in Vintage works here too. Most have already been mentioned, Stax-components, MM, Stifle, Chant (you'll usually want to cast it in response to a second or third accelerant, making them burn and burn out without ever letting them resolve their keyspells. If they happen to Desire or Wish, both are good cards to respond to too) all work nicely. Discard, LD and artifact removal are all good too (since Blooms come in in the upkeep). Ghost Quarter is really nice since they run no basics, so it's essentially a Wasteland against them. Then there's more specific hate in the mentioned Arcane Lab/Rule of Law/Pyrostatic Pillar-territory, but any generic disruption-strategy tends to be good against them. Counterbalance/Top is basically game, Meddling Mage is a huge hammer, well-aimed counters and Stifles can cripple them, discard and LD can cripple them.

UWR Solution is probably the best deck against it. MD Meddling Mage and Stifle backed up with other quick beats=GG.
