Simple question I think Smile

If I put the second Flagstone into play (either I have another or my opponent -- doesn't matter) and I retrieve a Hallowed Fountain can I pay 2 life and untap it?

Of course you can't. I think you can still pay 2 life but it doesn't untap.

This is the most frustrating thing in the world. People - take note of this answer.

NO YOU CAN'T.

And the reason should be obvious and I shouldn't have to explain it to everyone. Flagstones puts it into play tapped. Fountain says it comes into play "tapped instead" if you don't pay the two life. Therefore, if you pay the two life for Fountain, it doesn't come into play tapped from its own ability, BUT IT DOES from Flagstones ability! Nowhere does it say on Fountain that you can pay two life to put it into play untapped if it would come into play tapped from somewhere else!

so you mean i can't pay life to have it come into play untapped? i thought it was like if i use mind's desire to play phage...it says that i remove cards from the game and play them as though they were in my hand without paying their mana costs, right? or if i use debtor's knell to bring court hussar into play it stays in play, right. i don't see how flagsteps doesn't put my land into play untapped since the ability of the other card says i can pay two life. i don't know why anyone would want to get a hallowed fountain or whatever anyway. everyone knows that sacred foundry is far superior to whatever colors the other produces. [/end sarcasm]

calm down, sc4rs, you're gonna have a brain aneurism and for what? so your foolish opponent tries to untap his fountain, paying two life. doesn't work. his bad. good for him he doesn't lose the two life for being stupid. i'd straight try this crap against you all the time. not because it works, but just the psychological impact. it would be hillarious to watch you clutch at your left arm, and keel over in a match because i ask every five seconds if it's my untap stap. or can i shuffle my cards? hey, can i put this into play during my upkeep, or do i have to wait until my main phase? hey, do you know how cleanup works, do i have priority or do you? hey sc4rs, when do i draw, before, or after my untap step? Laughing

i just want everyone to know, all of the bs i stated in response is erroneous. that means it was all in error, and doesn't work, patently false, but try it anyway. i'd love to see you play phage with mind's desire.

When Flagstones of Trokair is put into a graveyard from play, you may search your library for a Plains card and put it into play tapped. If you do, shuffle your library.

However, with Blood Moon in play...side question here... I know you don't fetch stuff...but are they "Legendary Mountains" or do they lose that supertype? Also, do the shocklands still come into play tapped with Blood Moon out since they are still "coming into play" and not "in play" as Mountains? Or does Blood Moon affect cards in hand, even if they aren't in play?

Duals come into pay tapped unless you pay 2 life. Bounce lands come into play tapped too btw, but you don't have to bounce a land since that's triggered.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they loose the legenadary status.

Btw they DON'T loose the non-basic supertype (nice with Dryad Sophisticate).

no you can, players don't get priority before they are put in grave (state based effect)

there is no such thing as a "nonbasic supertype". Lands without the "Basic" supertype are nonbasic.

true, but they do not gain the 'basic' supertype, so it all works out.
