Condemn > angel

Mesa = Broken. Only reason to play red/white in control is helix.

It gains Careful Consideration and Sacred Mesa, and loses nothing, plus there are lots of SBs that forego graveyard removal and it easily can win without Firemanes, plus if you're smart with your Zur's Weirdings, you can win before they draw into their graveyard removal.

It's clearly still competitive but less popular because it hasn't won recently. The good decks on M-L perpetually win because people emulate the winning decks, and more and more people play the same decks, so they end up having a better chance to win or do well. It's a vicious cycle that kills most origality unless it wins a master. Confused

stone rain, cryoclasm, avalanche riders and wildfire, all getting lots of play and all totally wreck firemane control

the tier 1 control decks these days have either more counters then firemane or the ability to play akroma for 4 mana. Both these strategies are better vs ld then the wait till i get to 10 mana when i can use my threat approach.

Orly.

I never played Gifts and I did just fine with it.

In fact, I top eighted just Friday with my Angel deck. I believe I lost to Mono-black snow in the top eight due to the sheer fact that my deck refused to draw ANY land. That day I managed to go 3-1 Smashing a Fish deck, a Babykiller deck, and RWb aggro-burn, and I lost to a different Babykiller deck.

Honestly, I love this deck. Always have and always will. Withered Wretch and Crypt mean nothing to me. I, in fact, recreated the deck so that it relies less on getting an Angel in the 'yard. I added in Lightning Angel, Demonfire, and also Paladin en-Vec mainboard to deal with the fact that everyone in my meta is playing red.

The deck isn't any less viable, and I personally <3 it.

Sure thing.

Lands: (Total: 23)
4 Island
2 Plains
1 Mountain
4 Sacred Foundry
3 Steam Vents
2 Hallowed Fountain
1 Boros Garrison
1 Azorius Chancery
2 Izzet Boilerworks
2 Adarkar Wastes
1 Shivan Reef

Creatures: (Total: 9)
4 Firemane Angel
3 Paladin en-Vec
2 Lightning Angel

Other Spells: (Total: 29)
4 Remand
4 Mana Leak
3 Cancel
3 Rewind
4 Compulsive Research
4 Electrolyze
4 Lightning Helix
2 Wrath of God
1 Demonfire

Total: 61 Cards

Sideboard:
(Staples)
4 Spell Snare
4 Faith's Fetters

The remaining seven are up to you. I personally use 3 Azorius Guildmage and 4 Ronom Unicorn, but that just fits my meta.
