I remember reading somewhere that you can stack the triggers of Faceless Butcher in such a way that the target creature is removed permanently. Can someone explain to me how it works?

come to play, target a creature, put this on the stack.
While that is on the stack, sac it, kill it, w/e, so the leave play effect is on top of the come to play effect.
Leaves play, return the removed creature into play (u didnt remove anything yet). Then remove the creature effect resolves, removing the creature forever.

This was used back in the day with Stronghold Assassin (butcher enters play, target a creature, sac it for Assassin's ability). You'd kill 2 creatures with Butcher (one of them would be removed form the game).
It was mainly used in the Caller-Husk deck to abuse the synergy of this combo with Oversold Cemetery (187ing 2 creatures a turn is sexy Smile)

Horror + Malevolent Awakening was good enough to actually get Malevolent Awakening into Constructed decks.

If I sacrifice Faceless Butcher to Malevolent Awakening, can I bring it back to my hand and at the same time remove a creature from play? Is this what you mean?

This is so cool! Very Happy
