I believe this is an old thread that should have been recreated when the forums reset.
But since it hasn't, I guess I shall be the one that does so.

This is an old card is posted in the old forums, with a little revision to make it a bit less broken.

Dark Thunder {BR}
Instant
Dark Thunder deals 4 damage to target creature or player. A creature dealt damage in this way can't be regenerated.
Rare
Oh it's more than a Shock now

-----Another Card-----

Drain Conscience {2BB}
Sorcery
Target player discards two cards from his or her hand, you draw a card for each card discarded this way.
Common
Why should you know this when you don't know how to use it?

Hopefully this takes off like the last one has.
Have fun with it.

In memory of Disciple of the Vault, hated by all save those who chose to use its malevolent power...

Keeper of the Vault
BB
Creature - Human Cleric
Whenever a permanent leaves play, its controller loses one life.
2/2
Uncommon

If you thought his disciples caused enough destruction to change the world...

That's ridiculous. Compare Volcanic Hammer--1R, 3 damage, SORCERY. At {1BR} it would be better--or {BR} and 3 damage, and instant. But as is, it's too much.

Also, the whole "card reference pun" thing is terribly trite.

That might be too good for T1. Compare to Regrowth, which is restricted for the recursion of broken stuff. An extra {G} for an extra card? The splice isn't that relevant in that format, but it might be too good without some sort of disadvantage. Perhaps regrowth 2, discard a card?

Phantasmal Adept- UU
Creature- Wizard
You may play {this} any time you could play an instant.
When {this} comes into play, counter target spell.
0:Counter target spell, then return this to your hand. You may play this ability no more then once per turn.
At the beginning of each players upkeep, put a Decay counter on {this}. Whenever {this} has 3 or more Decay counters on it, remove it from the game.

As is, that will remove itself, and the trigger for playing them will not happen. Needs rewording.

A counterspell with free double counter and recursion, that doubles as an instant 0/3 wall? That is completely broken. Compare to Mystic Snake--{1GUU}, You may play Mystic Snake any time you could play an instant. / When Mystic Snake comes into play, counter target spell.

For 1G less, you're making something far, far more powerful. Perhaps try 2UU, and bouncing it costs UU? At those stats it might be balanced.

The whole decay counter thing is a no-go. It'll just be bounced to hand before it gets to die. I'd go for something more like this:

Phantasmal Adept - {2UU}
Creature - Wizard
You may play Phantasmal Adept any time you could play an instant.
{UU}: Counter target spell, then return Phantasmal Adept to your hand. Play this ability only once each turn.
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, remove Phantasmal Adept from the game.
0/3

Far more balanced version--and it's still very playable.

I like this one:

Pwned 0

Instant

Kick target player square in the nuts.

I warned you, I really did.

-OR-

The Sound of Silence 2UU

Insant-Arcane

Counter Target Spell

Splice onto Arcane U

Our forefathers were right in assuming that you are just an insolent fool.

-OR-

Trogdor, the Burninator 3RRW

Legendary Creature-Dragon

Flying, Trample

When Trogdor, the Burninator comes into play all Soldiers get -1/-1 until end of turn.

R: Trogdor, the Burninator gets +1/+0 until end of turn
W: Trogdor, the Burninator gets +0/+1 until end of turn

As long as Trogdor, the Burninator is in play, all other dragons get +1/+1 and all soldiers get -1/-0.

4/3

As soon as the soldiers saw the immense task that lay before them, they said "screw this" and were burninated right where they stood.

I think these cards are pretty damn cool.

Plan for the Future [2UUUU] {r}

Legendary Enchantment

Play with the top card of your library revealed.
Discard a card: Draw a card.
Discard a card: Put the top card of your library on the bottom of your library.
Sacrifice Plan for the Future: Draw a card.

Learn from the Past [2BBBB] {r}

Legendary Enchantment

Remove a creature card in your graveyard from the game: Return target creature card in your graveyard to your hand.
Remove a creature you control from the game: Return a creature card with a lower mana cost from your graveyard to play.
Sacrifice Learn from the Past: Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.

Live in the Present [2GGGG] {r}

Legendary Enchantment

Sacrifice a land: Add GG to your mana pool.
Sacrifice a creature: Search your library for a basic land card and put it into your hand.
Sacrifice Live in the Present: Search your library for a creature card and put it into your hand.

This one is... interesting. Easy to make broken.

Time Jump [WGRBU] {r}

Sorcery

Put all creature cards from your hand into play. Then, discard your hand and remove your library from the game.

I was bored:

Pure Confusion [RRRR] {u}

Instant

All attackers become blockers; all blockers become attackers. (All assigned blockers become blocked by the assigned attacking creatures. Unblocked attackers are removed from combat.)

Wait, this card has no use. It just... sucks. There is no way to use this card. WTF!

I need a common in this batch:

Venus Fly-Trap [G] {c}

Creature - Plant

Defender
Venus Fly-Trap can only block creatures with power equal to or less than the total number of Venus Fly-Traps in play.

3/3
