I just started playing EXT and this deck just called out to me. It looks really fun to play, and actually looks like it'd be pretty strong. Here's the deck I have running now, comments/suggestions much welome, as well as a sideboard Smile.

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
4 [DIS] Breeding Pool
2 [ON] Flooded Strand
7 [CHK] Forest (2)
7 [RAV] Island (4)

// Creatures
4 [OD] Wild Mongrel
4 [TO] Aquamoeba
1 [JU] Genesis
1 [JU] Wonder
3 [TO] Arrogant Wurm
2 [9E] Thought Courier
4 [TO] Basking Rootwalla

// Spells
2 [RAV] Remand
2 [TO] Compulsion
3 [7E] Force Spike
2 [CHK] Gifts Ungiven
3 [OD] Roar of the Wurm
2 [MR] Chrome Mox
3 [TO] Circular Logic
4 [OD] Careful Study

For the sideboard I was thinking chill and PITHING NEEDLE, because of BDW as well as No-Stick/scepter chant(I think No stick?)
This deck has pretty good matchup's against the copious amounts of B decks with discard effects running about, either resulting in a madness card discarded or a card that is probably not key to the win.
Card Reasons:
Lands - Easy enough to explain, Though maybe threshold lands?

Wild mongrel - Greatest bear of all time, plus discard effect!

aquamoeba - Another discard effect + beater

genesis - might as well have something else that can easily be discarded to a discad effect and still be powerful(or more so).

wonder - Same as above, but makes your beaters have evasion too!

arrogant wurm - more or less a 2-3rd turn 4/4 trampler very nice.

Basking rootwalla - Free 1/1s that can become 3/3s Very good.

Thought courier - Alternate draw/discard.

Remand - card advantage/ tempo

Compulsion - alternate drawing/discard

Force Spike - early counter

Gifts Ungiven - to get things in the graveyard/your hand

Roar of the Wurm - big wurms

Chrome Mox - acceleration

Circular Logic - cheap counter- good early or late.

Careful Study - great discard/ draw effect.

Thanks.

I run Deep Analysis for card draw (flashbacked most of the time) and Gigapede for some odd reason. Also Call of the Herd in mine, not sure why. I sure do like having things to discard to Mongrel.

I've seen ones that ran deep analysis, and call of the herd makes sense, I see why gigapeded would be run, but it seem's a bit expensive(though ill consider/test with it).

Two Jitte should be in over gifts and/or chrome. Also 4 Logic is a must, it's a great card. I would also consider mana leak over remand. Thought courrier and compulsion seem like overkill when you have mongrel/meoba/study. Deep analysis as maybe a two of would be good. Stifle maybe a good board/main card, hits a lot of annoying ablities: Port, storm activations, life from the loams dredge, etc.

k, thanks BoW, I'll try those out(maybe jitte over compulsion), and drop a courier for circular logic. stifle board seems like a good idea and ill test out the analysis's.

@kiki, I lost 2nd round by mulling to 3 and not getting a single land. Crap eh?

i personally really like compulsian in that dec, though courier might be overkill...esp bc its more vulnerable as a creature

Nemesis is NOT extended legal. Invasion and newer.

as for the deck, you don't need thought courier, compulsion, gifts. What you do need is two more fetchlands, a fourth arrogant wurm (that and roar are your real win conditions) with the extra cards you really need a second or possibly even third wonder. with all the graveyard removal becomming more and more main stream, to the point of main deck leyling, one wonder just won't cut it. Deep Analysis was made for madness. Use it. So was Circular Logic. Four minimum. I'd also use three chrome mox. Nothing's better than a turn one mongrel.

what's different about moreno's list? there's the newer dual lands, not much else.

It still looks like it would lose to a good UB psychatog deck. I wonder if Antione Ruel will make a newer version of his ptLA deck.
