|
|
This thread is meant to keep you guys and girls up to date on the features implemented in G.O.
You may request features, but please read the feature list and the todo list first to make sure it's not already implemented or scheduled for implementation.
Also, dont request features like: Make "this" like mws / appr., instead describe what they are and what they do.
Client Features: (note that some of the client features are only available when logged onto the main server, marked with *)
- Multiplayer*
- Sideboard access (duh?)
- Picture Loading Capability (from mws or wizards.com)
- Compatible with mws / appr deck files.
- Watch games live*
- Load game replay files (plays like a video)
- Theme Editor with over 400 settings
Client ToDo List:
- Improve graphics.
- Design a few themes for popular screen resolutions. |

| The macros in both existing programs (Alt + 0 thru Alt + 9 are each set to a word, or boxes that appear for each word selected) are useful for sayings used every game and I would guess relatively simple to code. |

I use Ctrl+0-9 for that, it's under Communicate, you can change the list by loading a plain text file with something to say on each line (max 10) |

| A timer would be nice to keep track of a tournament match. Also an alarm/reminder noise to tell me at certain times how much time is left. In addition it would be nice to input one's own sound effects for the alarm, such as a song or a gun shot, possibly mp3 files and so forth. |

Hey you should set up the turn phase buttons to do actions when double clicked. example double clicking on the untap phase button on your turn will untap all of your permants, and double clicking the draw phase icon will alow you to draw a card.
And you should be able to remove counters for cards on the right click menu. |

I think that it would be cool if you set up the phases as in magiconline. Meaning it automatically switches through the phases when you click ok. Example would be when your opponent passes the turn it automatically goes to a stop on a phase (which you could manually set) and lets you do what you need then you can hit ok to move on to the next phase that you set a stop on. Only a suggestion that would make game play MUCH easier thx.

ok got the pictures set up. I suggest that we dont use the same turn system as MagicOnline because like most players i hate having to go threw all the steps. If i just want to play a land and ok i dont want to click 7 ok's. The way its set up is fine. But i do think that the turn phase buttons should take the action that that phase does. Example untap phase, untaps your cards, Draw Phase, draw a card.
Also a suggestion instead of having seperate windows for players life and satusjust make 1 big Window like in MWS That is Set to one side.
Also if i may suggest, the theme edits are just to much. Make a default theme that comes with it and then later you can build a theme creator so that players can build there own themes outside of GO. there is no need to have all those option just filling it up. Most players would prefer something far simpler. It shouldnt be to hard to just make a seperate program that makes themes since you have most of the code already built. |

| I highly disagree, If G.O. is being built to be a competitive system it should have the phase system. I mean when you are in a mini the most annoying thing is when you play against somebody who doesnt correctly use the phases. When a player does not use phases it degrades the game play and makes things more complicated such as if a player wants to do something during an opp turn in a certain phase. Adding the phase system would create a much higher level of play. |

You can skip phases, by clickin on the phase icon, so you can skip all you want.

I've made that an option (default = off though)

Use rightmouse, like with the mana pool bar. |

I have a few comments.
- First like others said before, it's a shame that we're not seeing a portable version.
- The ability to move the thing that track life points and the chat window is very annoying, also the fact that cards can move over it, I think the playground should be fixed and you shouldn't be dragging things like that. At least not being able to hide one behind the other, that stinks.
- I couldn't personally make the pictures load by setting up the path. And I can't read the names without the pictures so I have to move the mouth over the card just to see if the card is a snow covered mountain or a snow covered island.
- Cards in hand look like 1/4 of a card, that's just ugly.
- The game client is REALLY REALLY slow. Being that mws is so much faster and looks so much good I believe there's some serious lack of efficiency. Or maybe that's because you're logging everything in the server... well if this is the result I don't think is a very good idea, or maybe another solution should be searched.
- I've set up to double click untap step and draw step to do the job but it's nice in mws that it moves to the next step automatically and it's good that way. Even if you disagree... you can't disagree about doing it in untap step, there's no priority there.
- Sometimes my opponent justs does something that asks for my priority, this is really annoying, and the Yes No question window is not really jumping to sight, I mean like 90% of the time me and my opponent were, ??? what the hell is going on, nothing works, there's nothign going on... OH, THAT LITTLE AWFUL WINDOW. Also, F2 to pass doesn't work, you definetely need a key if you're gonna stick with this "priority" theme you're using in some cases and not in others (wich btw is inconsistant).
- Control+M hides/shows the chat screen when its use should be mulligan. I use Control+M a lot, it also draws seven if you have no cards in hand, is a very good shortcut and is a shame is not there.
- When you right click a card the menu is too damn huge is not practical. Maybe use the most common ones on the menu and an extended menu with the other options. It'd also be good to be able to drag and drop it to the zone you wanna put it. All this item considering how difficult is to put a card into graveyard.
- Right click on the playground does nothing. I think at least the tokens menu should be there.
- The life counters feature on the left side looks... clever, but I don't think is practical and probably uses to much space and it doesn't seem like at least I would really use it.
- Chat buttons in MWS with the communicate menu are very popular, and I personally find them very useful. Clicking ctrl+num to say something is not really a shortcut when your hand is really holding the mouse.
- You can't set your life higher than 9999? Why's that? That's ridiculous.
- It could be nice to check if a player has more than 7 cards when he ships the turn to the game stops and players can fix the problem. Being able to change this in case they play with something like spellbook or the like.
I seriously believe you should start really focusing in the looks and the game play before going crazy with functionality (wich are already many and also bright and very useful), if the game looks this bad, runs so slow and is so annoying to play with; it will not be used, no matter how good it is. It's a really unpleasant experience to play with this program, and that's very hard considering how much I enjoy magic. |

OK, thanks for the feedback.
The slow thing, is that also the case in solitaire mode?
If it is, I need to switch to DirectX like mws asap, cause the graphics i use now really really slow things down.
I'll try and make the default theme better, with the objects locked in place where possible.
It would be nice if I could get a complete shortcut list, probably the one mws uses, since apprentice isn't going to be around much longer.
I'll check the rest of the list when I'm done with the current todo list. |

It's also slow in solitaire mode, it's probably what you think it is.
There was a guide somewhere for MWS, but there's no need to follow it all the way, I just mentioned the ones i like/need. |
