A couple of questions

1. The rules I read say "when a player needs to draw more cards than he has in library, he/she loses the game". But how about milling? If I have "Glimpse the unthinkable", which tells the person to throw 10 cards from library to graveyard, and he only has 8, does he lose right away, or only in his next draw step?

2. I played with someone, and he played "Genju of the fields", on his plains. He tapped 16 mana for it, and he said that it gets the "Whenever this creature deals damage, you gain that much life" 8 times, but it is still a 2/5 creature. He said that he is sure, and if I'd ask anyone who knows about MTG he'd say it's true. But it still seems strange to me. Anyone?

3. This happened to me in a game today. My opponent had a creature, which has an activated ability of discarding. He used it (I had 1 card in hand), and I had an instant in hand, so I played it. But he cast remand on it (countered, and the spell came back to my hand). I still had mana to play the spell again, and obviously the ability didn't resolve yet, because the remand was higher on the stack. My question is, could I play the spell again? As it is an instant, and goes on top of the stack. But he told me "When the stack starts to resolve, you can't add any more spells to it". Is he right? Or could I have played it (again, it was an instant)?

Thank you very much, Tima.

1) Draw Step
2) He's correct, he gains 16 life barring any effects
3) Uh.. I dunno what you said but you can add more instants and abilities on the stack before the discard resolves so you can replay it if needed.

1 Mill cant kill.
2 you can give the plains that ability 10000000000 times if you have the mana.
3 can you read the rules? instant means.... instant.[/quote]

Thanks fellows.

And guest, that's what I thought, but the guy was so sure he was right, I let it go, and resolved to ask about it in here.

I don't think you hindered the spell, since you said it went back into his hand. The only counterspell I can see doing that is Remand. For Hinder, the card gets put on the bottom or the top of the library.

1. You lose the next time you would draw a card. Not being able to mill a card doesn't mean you lose.

2. For each activation of genju, a seperate ability is added to the card. Each ability triggers seperately so you gain life seperately for every time you activated the ability.

3. Your opponent was wrong. After each spell or ability on the stack resolves, each player gets priority again to play spells and abilities. So you could have played it again. Your opponent would have been correct about 10 years ago with the old rules.

alright there is something i don't understand about number 2. you pay the activation cost to make it a 2/5 with soul link. how would paying it again make the soul link give you double life?

Lets say I pay for the ability twice. It now has two instances of soul link. When damage is dealt, the first instance sees "hmm, 2 damage so my controller must gain two life." And so, you gain two life. Then the second instance of soul link says "Hey I haven't had a chance to trigger so its my turn now. My controller gains 2 life." So in total, you gain 4 life. There you go.

Think of it as a 2/5 creature with

"Whenever this creature..."
"Whenever this creature..."
...
"Whenever this creature..."

In short, it has as many triggers as the number of times you activated its ability.
