I thought snow mana can be paid by tapping any snow permanents? If so does that mean I can tap Gelid Shackles to pay for its ability?

Quote:

Gelid Shackles {W}
Snow Enchantment - Aura

Enchant creature
Enchanted creature can't block and its activated abilities can't be played.
{S}: Enchanted creature gains defender until end of turn. {S} can be paid with one mana from a snow permanent.)

I don't think so. I think that snow permanent has to make mana, like Coldsteel heart or the snow lands.

Mana from a Snow permanent can be used as snow mana. Snow permanents that don't have mana abilities...don't have mana abilities.

Snow mana applies to any mana made from a snow permanent. You cannot tap a Gelid Shackles to produce mana in the same way that you cannot tap a Worship or an Annex to make mana.

The mana must be produced from a snow permanent that is able to produce mana. Boreal Druid and Coldsteel Heart are both snow permanents that tap for mana so their mana is consitered snow mana, even thought it may be colorless or colored mana as well.

Um, cos when I read the text on the card it mentioned snow permanent, so I thought it meant that tapping any snow permanent will give you snow mana. Pretty noobish, now that I think about it. Razz
