It's Just a Great Side Board Card for Blue. Red and Green Are Both getting some nice stuff like Troll and Incinerate. It really isn't too over or Under powered

Blue should not be sideboarding in 2 mana counters. Blue should be playing good 2 mana counters main. Countermagic from the side has to be more efficient than what's available to be worthy (think Gainsay when Counterspell and Memory Lapse were the only 2 mana counters). A good sideboard card would be something like Hydroblast, Hibernation, or Chill.

This card does have the redeeming quality of being the third in the format (assuming Mana Leak is in 10th) that can be cast for U with Grand Arbiter in play.

Green is the most underpowered color. I don't see why you're whining about Green getting a chance for once. <3 Green

That's silly. Right now, Green isn't big in type 2, but early in the season, EVERYTHING played Green.

I have no problem throwing Green a bone. Ravenous Baloth is a pretty damned good card. Games involving Troll Ascetic are significantly less fun than games that don't involve it. Baloth also fits in more decks and plays more roles than Ascetic.

However, that whole line of discussion is a digression. This thread is about the 2 mana counter. It isn't good. I hope it doesn't see play. Say "You've got your bloody counter" when we actually get a counter.
