I was just wondering (silly question, and I'm sorry if this has been brought up before). Is there a solitary game that uses you and against an AI for Apprentice or Workstation?
If not, is there any applications out there that do this?

Thanks

magma is a 2-player duel where you try to knock the AI into magma. ... :-/ doesn't sound like the AI can play magic, though. Except maybe a burn deck.

anyways, no. The game "Shandalar" by Microprose has AI that can play magic, but I hear the AI is pretty stupid. I don't remember, because I haven't played it in 6.5 years.

I've never heard of magma until strovil mentioned it, I did do a search for it and kinda gave up halfway through. It dosn't seem to be very popular.

As far as shandalar goes, it's a great game. I have it on my computer and I play it often. It's more of an RPG, though and the AI is stupid if you put it on easy level. There are different difficulty levels, but you have to understand that the game was released in like '95, so AI wasn't as advanced at the time. It's more of the kind of game that you would just try to kill time with. You can spend hours playing it. You won't get much good practice with it either, you're playing in a format where *insert bad card here* is actually a good card and people pay more for an Elder Dragon Wurm than they do for a Wrath of God. Plus you're playing with pre-sixth edition rules as well.

It sounds like you want to play more competitive magic against a computer. I don't think there is a software advanced enough yet to do that. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility, but until then, I think you're stuck with MWSPlay.

Yeah, Shandalar is great. You can get it through IRC (www.mirc.com) on the server irc.undernet.org; the channel is #oldgames. The program isn't actually called Shandalar: it's M:tG, Duels of the Planeswalkers. Gl and hf =)

Trying that now, but I cant figure out how to initiate the download. I found the file, and i'm trying to get it from the bot that is supposed to be hosting it, and I type get <Magic the Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers (ISO).rar> which is what the displayed file name was when I searched for the game, but it isnt working.

EDIT: Nevermind, my stupid self figured it out.

EDIT, again: My god, isnt there just some place with a button that says "Download" that actually works? The transfer rate on this mIRC thing is soooo slow. 7 hour download...
