so yeah, i did terribly at regionals, facing my worst two matchups round one and two, then dropped to play in a side even and win back my money. i have a few friends that came really close to top 8ing but were about a win away each. how did everyone else here do?

I ended up in the top 50 at the Midwest regional with WW/r.

MD:

3 Suntail Hawk
3 Isamaru
4 Hand of Honor
3 Kami of Ancient Law
2 8.5 Tails
3 Leonin Skyhunter
3 Paladin en-Vec
3 Boros Swiftblade

2 Bathe in Light
4 Lightning Helix
2 Char
1 Flames of the Blood Hand
3 Umezawa's Jitte
3 Glorious Anthem

SB:
4 Shining Shoal
4 Blood Moon
3 Proclimation of Rebirth
2 Flames of the Blood Hand
2 Samurai of the Pale Curtain

Round 1: Heartbeat Combo

Game 1- I drop the beats fast with Isamaru into Hand, then Paladin. Anthem on turn 4, with Char turn 5 for win.
Game 2- He boards into Big Dudes.dec with Keiga, Meloku, and Kudzu's. He gets a Kudzu to 4/4 before I helix it in resp to counter, I lay down three 2/2's, they get muddle -> Twistered. Draw two more beaters, they get Twistered also, Draw into Swiftblade and Jitte. He plays a Keiga with him at 6 life. I draw land for 4 turns, attack into Keiga pumping after dmg to get counters on Jitte, Draw bathe in light and win eventually.

1-0

Round 2: Angel Control B/W

Game 1- I curve perfectly against him with Isamaru, Hand, then en-Ven. Turn 4 Jitte swinging he scoops.
Game 2- He brings in every form of removal he can. Condemns hit my paladins, fetters on my hands, wraths for my 8.5 tails. Turn 9 Angle of Despair and turn 10 Kokusho see me scooping...
Game 3- I drop turn 3 blood moon with him having a Shizo, Bounceland, and painland. I drop some beats but he draws a signet and mortify's the blood moon. I replay another one, eats another mortify, play a third, terashi's grasp hits it. He wraths and plays big dragons.....

1-1

Round 3: Gruul

Game 1- I curve into en-Vec again but he has a ledgewalker with a cloak holding him back. The board stalls with creatures on each side. He is at 8 life and I peel a Bathe in Light giving Pro-Green to my army and swing for the win.
Game 2- I sided in one Blood Moon and some shoals. I peel my blood moon turn 3 while he misses a land drop with 2 mountains in play. I play the blood moon and swing, he draws his land, a painland. I swing turn 4, he checks his draw and scoops.

2-1

Round 4: G/W/B Rock

Game 1- I have no clue what he is playing for the first half of the game as his Sac Elders keep my army at bay while he builds his mana base. Turn 5 I see a Hierarch, which I char. Turn 6 is another Hierarch... turn 8 sees a Yosei. With him at 25 life and me taking 5 in the air I scoop and hope for the board to help.
Game 2- He has a slower draw and I bring in extra flames to help with the life gain. I unfortunately don't see either a mountain or a flames in the game and I end up dieing to Yosei's smashing my face .
2-2

At this point I'm a little disapointed but becuase there are 251 people I still have a chance of getting some product, and my brother is still 3-1 so I decide not to drop and keep plugging away.

Round 5: Vore

Game 1- Ok this may be my worst matchup. I am on the draw and it goes like this for me. Turn 1 - Land, Hound. EoT for him, eye my land. Turn 2 - Land, Attack. EoT for him, Bounce Hound. Turn 3 - Land Skyhunter, EoT Repeal Skyhunter. Turn 4 - Land Isamaru, Skyhunter, EoT Nothing!! yay. Turn 5, Carefull study a couple times, eat an attack to the face for 4... Turn 6, Vore Turn 7, Wildfire for my team... Scoop...

Ok game 1 sucked and it took like 4 minutes for that to all happen. All the meantime the game next to me has a guy on turn 3, with 3 lands in play and 9 cards in hand when his opponent asked for cards in hand. This gets a judge call and the head judge starts interrogating them for cheating violations and deck stacking.

We shuffle up for game two and I get to start. Lead with Isamaru. Turn two Skyhunter, turn 3 I leave mana open and just cast a Suntain Hawk because I have bathe in light in hand for any pyroclasm or something funny. He casts threads of disloyalty on my skyhunter. I respond with Pro-Blue. He says nice play. I drop en-Vec next turn and attack once. He draws and scoops.

The arguement at the next table is still going on and we are done with game 2... something about spilling coffee on their sleeves inbetween matches.. i don't know. I don't change my board and we start game 3.

I curve out into the en-Vec. He attempts to pyroclasm and I bathe in light my team. He goes down to 6 from my attack and on his turn he pyroclasms again. I double shoal the damage that would be dealt back to his face and swing for the win.

3-2

Round 6: Boros Mirror

Game 1- The mirror Match.... I didn't expect to see this at all. We start playing and my deck is just better. My hands are better than his Savanah Lions, Kami > Glorious Anthem, en-Vec > Helix and Char. First Strike > Normal Damage. He scoops turn 6.

Game 2- I side in shoals and some proclimations for a refill on chump blocking. This game goes a few rounds longer but ends after chumping his lions and houdns I proclimation them back to the game and swing for the win. Guy at the next table leans over and asks me who plays that card and I remark that I do and go turn in my win slip.

4-2

Round 7: Chord, GreaterGood, Loxodon Combo

Game 1- My brother played him earlier and lost to him so I know what type of deck he is playing. It revolves around him surviing to amass some mana and cast Gleancrawler and Resolve a loxodon Hierarch around turn 10. At this point my army does nothing to him because he gets back his loxodon each turn. The game ends with him at aproximately 50 life.

Game 2- The same thing happens but he condemns my Kami of Ancient law, plays Greater Good, and Chords out a Gleancrawler. He then chords out a yosei the next turn and I am put into the worst hardlock I have ever seen in my life.

4-3

With that loss and my brother dropping to 5-2 we decide that 7 rounds is enough for the day. He would have to go 2-0(4-0) to win 9 packs of cards and we decide that it isn't worth the time.

Overall Assessment... WW is still completely viable until Kamigawa rotates out. Once the Jitte, Hands, Kami, and Samurai rotate out it is going to be hard to make boros a viable T2 contender. I'm going to start messing around with U/W Skies and see how that pans out for whatever the next season is going to be.

From what I saw at Midwest Regoinals, at round 7 there was only one true control deck in the top8. The rest were B/W decks of some sort. It was pretty scarry.

22nd in south atlanic middle something or other [north carolina]

i played u/w aggro

round 1 - lose to rwb aggro 1-2
fetters, wrecking ball, last gasp, helix, fetters, mortify, firemane
game 3 he tops 2 fetters in a row while holding 2 firemanes to win

round 2 - beat heartbeat 2-1
round 3 - beat guw glare 2-1
round 4 - beat gw glare 2-0
round 5 - beat bw aggro 2-1
round 6 - lose to uw control 1-2
wrath, descendant, grand arbiter, windreaver, condemn, fetters
game 3 - i get good draw, he just gets double wrath, and then windreaver, who is shockingly good

round 7 - beat gw greater good 2-1
round 8 - beat gruul 2-0

my round 1 and round 6 losses were to games where they double wrathed or bettered

main deck
4 paladin
4 hand - [wish he were kamis all day]
4 savannah
4 isamaru
3 eight and a half tails - MVP
4 azorius guildmage - MVP

4 jitte
4 shining shoal
4 devouring light - sooo good
4 anthem - sooo bad

1 castle
4 fountain
4 adarkar wastes
12 plains

sb
1 azorius chancery - sb strat against aggro - go control, helps get turn 4 wrath
4 wrath - sb strat against aggro
4 mana leak - stop them from wrathing or comboing
4 bathe in light - good againt melokus and wildfires
2 kami of ancient law - against fetters or heartbeats

my only regret was not putting 4 promise in my sb against decks that run wrath, that was my problem my only chance against it, or maybe ghostway but that seems really bad, or maybe hokori?

I went 7-1-1 in swiss in the southeast regional in atlanta only to lose in top 8 to ghazi-chord. The top 8 was slightly unfavorable with 2 beach house and heartbeat in the top. There was also 2 husk, gruel, boros, and me playing bw hand. I had beaten ghazi once already in the swiss round 8, but this time I was a bit unlucky. Game 3 i finally stabilized with ghost council and last gasp in hand. I had a confidant and descendant on board and he had 4 elves. I untapped and I was at 3...reveal...mortify, just my luck. I played against the gauntlet except for u/w.

4-2-2 at mine. Guess that's why nobody runs Vore in my meta anymore... lol. Critical Mass got me twice, tied with a UW Control (neither of us could lose when time was called. He had 2 EnVec's and 3 Life, I had a Zozu and 37 life. God, Ilove Condemn. lol) My other tie came from a UR Control that ate up too much time when we played.

At least the games I won were all 2-0, so I guess it could've gone worse. And I got my IRL Constructed rating back above 1600.

Match 1 - UG Control, 2-0 Me.
Match 2 - UG Control again. 2-0 Me.

Match 3 - UW Control. 1-1-1 Tie
Match 4 - Don't know, won by turn 5 both games. 2-0 Me.
Match 5 - Critical Mass. 2-1 Him
Match 6 - U/R Mizzet Control. 1-1-1 Tie
Match 7 - U/R Control. 2-0 Me
Match 8 - Critical Mass. 2-1 Him

Finished out #60, would've gotten top 20 if the last game had gone in my favor, but Vore can't really deal with a turn 3 Kodama. lol. There were about 10 other Vores running around, but I`m pretty sure mine finished out on top of them.

DJ's Vore Whore
