I haven't seen any threads dedicated to this deck so here it is.
I firmly believe GUW packs enough answers for the current (and most likely the next) metagame. The following is a deck I've been testing around with very good results against current top tier decks. Keep in mind I still consider it to be in an early development stage and still awaiting for the new environment to be defined.
NAME: GUW Control
2 Adarkar Wastes
4 Temple Garden
1 Forest
1 Island
2 Brushland
4 Yavimaya Coast
1 Azorius Chancery
3 Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree
1 Simic Growth Chamber
4 Breeding Pool
2 Kodama of the North Tree
4 Loxodon Hierarch
2 Meloku the Clouded Mirror
1 Simic Sky Swallower
2 Azorius Signet
1 Simic Signet
4 Mana Leak
2 Hinder
3 Voidslime
4 Remand
2 Condemn
3 Compulsive Research
1 Tidings
3 Faith's Fetters
3 Wrath of God
Sideboard:
SB: 1 Wrath of God
SB: 2 Naturalize
SB: 3 Sacred Ground
SB: 3 Circle of Protection: Red
SB: 4 Spell Snare
SB: 2 Pithing Needle
I don't want to ramble very long on strategy and what cards do, uses and whatnot. For the experienced player who knows what's currently playing and what the future metagame might bring most of it should be self-explanatory. If you have any questions or comments about my selections, you are very welcomed to share them.
Depending on your matchup you could go full control, gaining board control before finally playing your win conditions and smash face, or play the tempo game playing threats as neccessary. This is what I like most of it. It's not your usual draw-pass-counter boring type of control deck. It certainly can be one, that's for sure.
Cards like remand, Condenm and faith fetters are great for the latter.
Vitu-Ghazi is very useful, specially against control matchups and post-Wrath game.
It may look difficult to cast Kodama of the North Tree in a three-color deck, but I haven't had any problems with it yet, and there's no need to say he's an amazing asset. After gaining control of the board, drop this guy with a bunch of counters in hand (or draw spells to fetch them) to back him up and see what happens.
Simic Sky Swallower. It's nice to have the newest biggest badass in the game and if you have all that mana, why not play him? just one is enough, it's a finisher after all.
Constructive comments? Variants? |

| Very powerful deck.... yet the most inconsistent control deck you can find. I'm giving up on it. You can run 13 removal spells, 15 counters, and never see them when you need them.... overall a piece of trash. Quit Magic until a better format comes around. |

4 Mana Leak
3 Remand
4 Naturalize
2 Supply // Demand

Pretty decent results but nothing spectacular. Almost every game is very close but has some late game consistency problems.

pride of the clouds is clearly a kick ass finisher, like meloku but there's nothing to kill.
my favourite deck so far is Re-venge's, it runs vitu-ghazi as a win condition |

| I tried 28 lands, and still didn't get WW for wrath when I needed it a lot of the time. |
