A couple months ago I had sbc dsl and could host, I think I did some stuff with the connections that I cannot remember. Moved somewhere else for a month with comcast cable and couldnt host. Now in a few weeks Im moving to another place where I'll be staying for good, and just wondering what you guys think I should do for internet to ensure I can host.

if u get cable, you should be able to host unless you have a router, in which case just forward your appr (and netdraft) ports. portforwarding is not hard it just looks that way. take 40 minutes one day and just read through step by step the instructions at www.portforward.com. It would only take less than 5 minutes to someone who has done it before, but i said 40 because if you have no idea what you are doing, it can be tedious.

Cable is the way to go though. It's cheap, reliable and fast. also, in fl (I don't know about elsewhere), earthlink is running specials with almost every cable provider. My cable company gave me 6 months earthlink service for $30 a month, and my connection is rock solid.

Thanks guys, sounds pretty unanimous. When the cable guy comes to set it up, can I get him to set up the port forwarding for me? If so how would I explain that, I dont really want to tell him that I play online magic the gathering on a system called apprentice and I need people to be able to connect to my unique ip address. It doesnt sound cool. Why do I want to impress a cable guy? Dont know.
