Make it so when you look at the top X cards of your library, it doesn't continuously keep track of the top X cards even after you start drawing more. Also, have it post a message when you close the "look at top X" window.

what about picking up http://mindless.sf.net/ and port it to windows and package it up. its a fully featured (and appr compatable, i can connect to appr people) linux/OSX client... so this will kill 3 birds with one stone, platform independant, AND appr compat, and its already feature rich, check it out. course this will require learning a lil GTK+... but other then that, check it out.

I think making apprentice 2 basically the same as apprentice with adding a few features like- Getting stuff from Sideboard in middle of the game, Bug fixes, Make it impossible to cheat or w/e, Multiplayer, Undo draw and if possible undo shuffle cause many times people get screwed cause of misclicks and get a gameloss or somthing. But make it the same and simple way apprentice is now <- Thats the main thing

Thankyou Guys and Good luck with it

Wishes
Uncheatable
Undo draw

and make it a very small program that doesn't take infinite RAM and crash all the time. If you have to sandbag extra features like multiplayer, then that's fine with me.

After reading the above posts I can just state that G.O. has everything everyone has requested in this thread, even multiplayer....

As for the appr2 source code being gone, that is not true, i have it right here on my computer.

Good luck on the project though, thumbs up!

LordHawk and myself are beginning plans to work on Appr2. As you may or may not know, Lordhawk had worked in the past on an Appr2 program, but we could not release it due to legal issues with some of the other contributors. Due to situations beyond our control, it is impossible to release now, because another person destroyed the code for it, and destroyed the backups.

Uhmm, since when was hawk part of a development team making apprentice v2.0? IIRC it was a solo project from neoshroom, that is why updating and patching took such a very long time

So, we are going to start from scratch. We are going to try and keep the play as close to the original appr as possible, and add new features. We will try keep the speedy, intuitive interface, and fix all the old bugs.

Why start a completely new project, when the source code will be published by jorbes as an open source project on scourgeforce.net?

He has received the original source from neoshroom, so there is a lot to work with.

Apart from being our announcement of this project, we would like to ask what NEW features you players would like to see added.

In addition, if you have experiance with the programming language C++, contact LordHawk or myself to see if you might be able to contribute to the project.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and reply with your suggestions. Very Happy

Well, since I only have experience programming in basic, and pascal, and that experience is limited to things that went on lik 15 years ago on non-dos and non windows systems, I won't volunteer for that.
As for features: how about a server to wich walled people can connect, it looks like this is one of the biggest problems that people encounter.
Also, a server could be able to save game logs, so cheatning and log-changing would be minimized.
Logs should be encrypted for the same reasons as above.
Multiplayer would be a nice option.
the option to use graphics.
Encrypted connections.

yea, for sealded deck i would love it to be color coded, as on magic league minis and such. Also, putting it in alphabetical order instead of rarity would be cool to

(Apprentice was written in Delphi.)

I have years of C coding experience. If you are assigning tasks, please put me on the list.

One thing that has not been mentioned: Sideboarding in Limited is set to a one-for-one swap. You cannot add cards, like you would normally do against Dimir decks. This should be changed since Limited is different in this regard from Constructed.

The use of wishes and making the cards look a little more realistic instead of ugly boxes. Card pictures would be nice as well as something to prevent long card names such as Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers looking like Okina, Te on the card.

Those are the only things I can think of that would make apprentice 2 really stand out from apprentice 1. Apprentice 1 is already 100 times better than MWS and with some added features, it'd be 1000 times better.

aside from bugs, undo buttons etc., cheating pevention, and multiplayer options. i can think of 2 things.

Morph needs to be fixed. the easiest way would be to just insert a controller tag whenever you view a permanent.

u know how on netdraft it has the sort button, for color, cost and order that would be nice for sealed

thanks and good luck

I had thought that project had been scrapped long ago. we might end up working with that, although i dont know.

again, i wasnt aware of that, but we might include it. I also seem to remember you posting on the mws boards that you didnt want them to go open-source because that would make it too easy for someone to write a new cheating program. going by that, it would make more sense for us to NOT use that.

the server is a good idea, and that was one of the things we had thought of. it probably wont be implemented first, but we will make room for it in later releases.
ditto for multiplayer, though that will most likely be one of the first things added.
encryption is one of the things we will be adding, for several reasons, one of which is to make developing a cheating program for it that much harder.

graphics is one feature we are not sure on. we may spruce up the old icons, things like that, but i dont know if graphics are going to happen. aside from the fact that it would be illegal for us to provide graphics for use in the program because of wotc's copyright, it would slow the program down, and one of our goals is to keep appr's speed and simplicity.

thanks again for replying ^^

God no. You don't need a new feature to play morph. You drag a card into play face down and put a 2/2 token on top of it. It's crude, but it works. If you make an entire feature to play morph with, you'll just make the program BIGGER. and CLUNKIER. and CRASHIER. just like MWS.

or, if you want, you can make appr 2.0 so big and crashy that you can basically call it Multiplayer MWS.

thats not what he was referring to.
he was referring to an issue that can be used to cheat a little bit.
im not going to say it in here for obvious reasons, but if you want to know you can ask me personally

Now, as a programmer, remarks like these really get my blood boiling, so I need to clarify a few things.

1.) IF the program is written correctly (that is failsave/dummyproof code) you can have all the ***** features in the whole wide ***** world built in (pardon my language) without it ever crashing.

2.) The key about features is that you make them optional and always provide a default setting that is widely acceptable.

The morph feature would be nice, BUT... if you just give any face down card in play 2/2 p/t, then you're doing it wrong.

Provide a right mouse menu, that differs from face up cards.
Have these buttons in it: "Turn Face Up", "Set as Morph" or "Set PT", "Change Color", etc etc.

In other words, make the program flexible so you dont depend on the rulebook for MTG.

I have an idea I'm not sure if it could be done but if it could it would be amazing

I was thinking if you could add a rule checker to it. Like u could ask a ruling question and it could give you an answer... I dont know if you could do this but if u could itll be pretty cool... Maybe you could just be able to acess the comp rules from the program thats doesnt seem to hard but i dont know anything about programing so i dont know

Thanks again
