Lately ive walked into card shops in the central florida region and the fun of it has almost left for me.Many people just want to see your money cards Dual land this Dual land that...
its not even a diffrent approach im kinda frustrated trading with people noones up and honest. Everone is so serious not a single smile while people were drafting at the pre release a girl said that to me and i started to wonder ...
alot of people are not nice especially with the young kids
moms and dads tell there 11 and 12 and younger kids not to trade with the older kids thats not very good we wanna keep magic alive and we need younger players to do it.
srry for babbling just wanted to say this.
Look at my web site if your in the area and like to play.join my very small forum and speak with us.

You are correct.

All everyone wants to see is hot cards. Its called trade value. I play in the Central Florida region and I do not see this hostility towards " younger" players you speak of.

Sure they are annoying as hell sometimes, but in general people still lend a hand.

You cannot base this argument off of walking into a card shop and seeing someone pissed off at a kid. What parents do you know of that tell their kids not to trade with older kids?

I think you are boosting your side of the arguement with weak supporting facts. Magic gets aggressive at a tournament level as with any card game or sport.

My sister won't let her kids trade. Period. I have seen this many times. And if anything, these younger kids i've seen are more aggressive and harder to beat than the older guys. Magic has always imo been about the "hot" cards since the beginning, thats just a fact of life. But I have been noticing that more and more people are VERY cold when it comes to magic. The fun seems to be slipping away, and I think It's due in part to the new sets. Now people are people, but when wizards comes out with a set as agressive as ravnica, people lose sight of the fun and only want to be the next champ with all the hot cards.

Actually, I haven't seen too many problems with younger players. In my area (NW Florida) we don't have too many players under 13 or so, but when we do, we try to help them out as we can, but most of them just play for fun so we don't bother netdecking with them or talking about the current decks that are kicking ass, we just play casual games.

As for trading, the universal policy is supply and demand. The more valuable something is to a specific person, the more they are likely to pay for it. If I needed another steam vents and that's all I was looking for, why would I bother asking about your other stuff? Seriously.

Prereleases tend to be serious for some people. Personally, I try to have fun with them. Yes, it is a tournament and you are trying to win stuff, but it's also a chance to see the new cards and see what the thinktanks at Wizards came up with next. So, I like to just enjoy the time there.

I noticed a lot of magic players in any area tend to be hostile and pretty faggish when it comes to magic; playing or trading.

It's like they forget that they are good at a CARD GAME and feel like rap stars sometimes or something? I have to say i've met the weirdest people in the world playing this game, as well as some of the most troubled youth or adults ever. Makes me really not want to play the game anymore honestly.

One example: After i beat some kid at the prerelease for our draft, I extended my hand to shake his and say good game. His response? "i don't shake hands it feels weird...I like to kick people instead.." i was like "you know you can catch germs from kicking people too right?" "OH no it's not about germs, I just don't like shaking hands it feels strange to me..."

left me pretty speechless....all i could do was laugh at the guy i mean seriously people GET HELP.

I'm all about ripping off little kids with totally one sided trades. I also do this to poeple my age and older though. There is no reason I can't make a profit off the dumbness of others, no matter the age. Hopefully they will not learn and I'll be able to get away with this for a long time to come.

Best trade: $3 for a Mox Ruby. That Ruby was traded for lots of top dollar t2 things a few years ago. Then it was put into a shop for $150 cash, not trade credit. When one of the workers was there that didn't know it was only cash I traded in a lot of my crappy cards to get it back and then I sold it for $130 at the next pre to another store. Good times.
