Let's face it, they suck. They SUCK. There's nothing worse than trying to prepare for a unique format like post Dissension Ravnica Block, spending several hours tuning and testing decks, only to lose to a flip. Especially if you got a bye in the first round (as I did) and flip loss in the second! Hours of testing + a couple of hours for waiting for the tourney to start, waiting through the first round=out of the tournament without a deck being shuffled.

Not to flame, but the person I flipped to just so happened to have done well in a Trial recently with a deck many people considered sub-optimal at best. One respected member of the league called it outright "bad." Now I do not know if he flipped even a single game in that tournament; I just don't know. But it's certainly reasonable for someone at some point to play a 5-6 round tournament, flipping for wins through 4 rounds, and making top 4 with a stack of bricks.

Call it an Apprentice issue. It is. Call it a router issue. It is that too. But how is allowing everyone with access to a box with a modem and Apprentice, even if they cannot actually connect to other people to play Magic, into the tournaments good for the league? Hamachi is simple and effective. Why not make a rule that if you cannot host, you must use Hamachi to connect in trials? Mini's are still open, MWS still plays (I suppose making the trial's all MWS would fix the issue, and the only way us stubborn Apprentice users will switch is if you make us).

Rant coming to an end. But to the guy who flipped two players out of the first to rounds of today's RBC Trial without so much as turning a card, I say Boo to you, sir. BOO!

edit: It has been brought to my attention that This may not be an exactly novel complaint. I suppose if they aren't going to fix it anyway, it could just be seen as a flame. Oh well, it's out there now. Apologies for the flame Wink

Quit complaining. This the 9187974329 topic about this. And nothing about this one is any different. The policy won't change for a long time, so it's just best to deal with it. Everyone else has to.
I know, it's not cool.

That's horrendous logic. "It's bad, but it's been bad for a while, so deal with it."

If you dislike the rules, email Nico or Koen. Trust me, they see complaints and will take into account a well-thought email where they will ignore these types of threads. This goes for anyone with issues with the rules unique to the league. If you email, your voice will be heard far more than in a forum post.

M thoughts on this: MeddlingMatt you are 50% responcible for that flip. Before you start to complain about other people fix your broke combuter. Hamatchi is not an answer to problems with routers or firewalls. It does not work for everyone. I can host, I never flip. Sounds like a good deal. Entering into a tourney with a problem like that brings things like flips. If you do not want to flip we do run MWS tourneys, and people do play MWS. Wait for one of those or pick up a league game. (When I say 50% My brain tells me 100%, cause you definatly flipped, I'm 100% sure about that. If your opponent can host, then its prolly a 0% chance of flipping, and if you can host all the better)

Actually in my opinion i dont think u should be able to join a tournament unless you can host

But thats just my opinion.

its crap to expect the other person to be able to host all the time. be able to host before you play !

Im with junkie. It's not my fault your parents have your computer firewalled with this "hamachi" nonsense. I'm so sick of people saying: can't host, Hamachi. Well too damn bad. Im actually in agreeance with all of these responses. Write niko. Quit complaining. Grow up, move out, get a life, and be someone. This message was brought to you by Purina.

there is nothing wrong with hamachi.. it goes aroudn routers almost all the time.. nearly 1/2 of the palyers here are probally routed and firewalled up so hamachi is a perfect answer.. and you can't tell 14 year olds to grow up.. it Takes TIME so unless they have access to a aging agent YOU have to DEAL with the 14 your olds as such

so please S T F U and GTFO

hamachi is the way to go.. if peopel can't run hamachi is the only time we have problem, (they probally cant run MWs either)

I don't know who tied alucart's 14 yr. old panties in a bunch... It's like his dad died inventing hamachi. I wasn't trying to offend anyone. "Meh" almost all the time huh? All I'm saying is that If your going to play on here, you should be able to play on here.

There is nothing wrong with Hamachi. It is something you should be willing to use if you're going to play on M-L. People with firewalls could just shut off their firewalls, sure. Problem solved. But people who connect via routers can't just get rid of the router. It's sometimes necessary to use a router, especially when networking or splitting a connection between multiple computers. Anyone who is unwilling to use Hamachi needs to get the hell out of here because they are also part of the problem.

Thank you Alucart. And in addition, one does not have to be 14 and living at home to have a router. I am 23 and live with a roommate in an apartment, guess what, router (wow!). Perhaps part of the problem is that those of you without a router just don't get it. It's not a freaking problem as long as you have hamachi. Hell, if you hate hosting, get hamachi and make other people host using it. There is nothing wrong with having a router. NOTHING WRONG WITH HAVING A ROUTER. It doesnt mean you are 14 (not that being 14 is in and of itself a bad thing, either), it doesn't mean your computer doesn't work, it just means you have to use hamachi. Pure and simple. If you have never used hamachi and don't know what you are talking about (richarddwade) then please STFU.

This is an Apprentice issue, people. It's not a router issue, routers exist despite Apprentice's attempts to ignore such a fact.

Ohh, and wildcard, if I was 100% responsible for the flip because I could not host, when neither person can host, how does your brain divide the 200% blame around?

www.portforward.com

fixes your router problem in less than half an hour. Takes a lot less effort than running hamachi every time you want to play a game. (takes a little more intelligence though).

Find your router, get the instructions, log into it, Forward port 4747, and your done.

Laplie you must consider that not everyone has access to router configurations. Im in connected through WiFi and as thought that the providers are very friendly they wont let me change the router settings, of course. Hamachi is the solution for 95 percent of ppl, but before some time, it didnt work for me neither. I was wondering it there could be any way of adding connecting through proxy to appr...I remember that m-l actually had thing like this and it could host 10 matches at one time. Why is it gone?
