Based on what I've seen, the most likely decks to develop are either going to be UW or R with black splash. Simic is a complete letdown, since they could have done so much more instead of Graft. Sure there are some nice cards, but they're more likely to be played in decks that aren't UG. Research is also nice too as a new wish, it just really doesn't have a place.
Cards that will make an impact:
Condemn- closest we've gotten to a decent StP card
Mistral Charger - weenie flyer
Proper Burial- maybe
Cytoplast Manipulator
Govern the Guildless - expensive, but you don't have to worry about enchantment removal
Spell Snare
Vision Skeins
Brain Pry - card advantage no matter what
Drekavac
Infernal Tutor- maybe but only for hellbent use
Seal of Doom
Demonfire
Ignorant Bliss- maybe
Rakdos Pit Dragon
Seal of Fire
War's Toll- I'll explain
Cytoplast Root-kin - not likely will be anything but a 4/4
Loaming Shaman
Protean Hulk
Verdant Eidolon- maybe
Aethermage's Touch
Azorious First-Wing- again weenie flyer
Coiling Oracle
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
Overrule
Pride of the Clouds
Rain of Gore
Rakdos Augermage
Rakdos Icksplitter
Simic Sky Swallower
Swift Silence- sideboard for U/X control matchup
Voidslime - sideboard
Windreaver
Wrecking Ball
Avatar of Discord - drawback isn't enough for it not to be played, plus it doesn't require you to have at least 2 cards in your hand
Simic Guildmage- if anyone builds a Simic deck :p
Crime/Punishment
Research/Development
Supply/Demand
Signets
Magewright's Stone- so many ways to abuse it
Shock lands
Pillar of Paruns
(yes I've probably got more than there will be, but these are the best of the set)
As for War's Toll, one thing a red mage hates is when the opponent (especially one with islands) has blockers or lands untapped when they end their turn. With this card, they have one phase to play any spells, and have to choose whether to attack or block (unless they have defenders, but how many walls get played in Standard?). It doesn't affect the person who controls War's Toll, so they have the advantage. |

the defender theme is obviously being pushed into Dissension
Which I think is gonna be awesome for a rogue deck haha |
