Today was the first day of the prereleases of dissension.
Before the prerelease, i thouhgt an WGU Aggro deck,
featuring Azorius, Simic and Selsenya. However, the pool didn't give enough good cards for such a deck, since it offered are better option, as i could see while building different decks
all in all, my pool did not suck but on the other side, had not the amount of playables that i wanted to see.
For manabase:
1 Selesnya Signet
1 Dimir Signet
1 Rakdos Signet
1 Rakdos Bounce land
1 Simic Bounce land
For an UGW deck
)Drake Familiar,)
Snapping Drake
Court Husar,
Terraformer,
Siege Wurm,
Transluminant,
Greater Mossdog,
Patagiaviper !
2 Simic Apprentice
Bramble Elemental
Overwhelm
Steeling Stance
Soulsworn Jury
Courier Hawk
Nightguard Patrol
Flickerform
2 Guardian of the Gildpact
Wakestone Gargoyle !
Pollenbright Wings
Coiling Oracle
Grandmaster Augusitn IV
Guardian of Vitu-Ghazi
(2 Overrule, 2 Vigean Hydrophon )
Even that's 23 playable cards, i dismissed the idea fast because t
there -no- removals in this deck ! Also, the deck wasn't aggressive enough to beat the opponents without removal.
Next, i tried RBW, where RB obviously , typical for the colors, granted a powerful removal army ( i finally played this)
1 Mausoleoum Turnkey
1 Clinging Darkness
2 Sigil od Doom !
1 Stinkweed Imp
1 Keening Banshee
1 Frenzied Goblin ( changed to Bond of Agenoy with Sb'ing, usually)
1 Squaling Devil (very good card !9
1 Viashino Fangtail
1 Ordruun Commando
1 Sigil of Fire
1 Sparkmage Apprentice
1 Demonfire !
1 Flickerform
1 Wakestone Gargoyle
1 Nightguard Patrol
2 Guardian of the GUildpact
1 Rackdof Ickspitter
1 Flame-Kin Zealot
1 Voyagar Staff
3 Signets
1 Rackdos Carnarium
6 Mountain
5 Plains
5 Swamp
other to be named cards in my Pool were these:
Twisted Justice, Valor Mode Real,
2 Ogre Gatecrasher, Clutch fo Underctiy, Farseek, 2 Whiptail Moloch
Vesperghoul, sandstormEidolon, Rix Maadi Rakdos land, Razias Putreification, Glimps eof te Unthinkable.
I think I did the best off my pool, Selesnya and Dimir were both not avaliable in the pool.
I didn't win but still won some boosters with a 3-1 result, lost to the winner who had me colorscrewed with lruking Informant and Magewright Stoen active (I still got him to 5 ^^)
Would've you build the pool different ?
What are your impressions of the DIS prereleases ? |

I havn't got a sealed deck but I got a crazy rakdos draft deck:
// Lands
6 [OD] Mountain (1)
2 [DIS] Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace
6 [CHK] Swamp (1)
1 [DIS] Rakdos Carnarium
// Creatures
2 [DIS] Rakdos Ickspitter
2 [DIS] Enemy of the Guildpact
2 [DIS] Avatar of Discord
1 [DIS] Gobhobbler Rats
4 [DIS] Demon's Jester
1 [DIS] Jagged Poppet
// Spells
1 [DIS] Skullmead Cauldron
1 [DIS] Ignorant Bliss
1 [DIS] Wrecking Ball
1 [DIS] Kindle the Carnage
2 [DIS] Seal of Fire
2 [DIS] Nettling Curse
2 [DIS] Seal of Doom
2 [DIS] Delirium Skeins
1 [DIS] Psychotic Fury
I was the only person at the table drafting Rakdos so I got all the R?B cards I also had a great turn 4 win:
Turn 1: Land
Turn 2: Land Gobhobbler Rats
Turn 3: Avatar of Rakdos, discard 2 swamps and swing with Rats
Turn 4:Land Kindle the Carnage, discanding 2 Enemies of the guildpact and 1 Demon's Jester to deal 14 to my oppenent and get Hellbent, Putting my opponent on 4 and Swang with the Avatar and Rats |

I actually came into the prerelease thinking Rakdos would be uber-powerful, but it turns out that a good WUG totally wrecks. You get cards from guilds that are all within your cardpool, and many powerful creatures. Running WUG got me 3-0-1 in flight and to finals in draft, where i lost to a guy with conseutive 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th turn Ickspitter The only problem I have with WUG is that it's so slow because there's lots of decisions to make.
Ability wise, Forecast is by far the worst. It has only a few standout cards and as a whole is very unimpressive. It's a hard choice between graft and hellbent, but graft wins it for me.
I also love all the noobs that come. I got a playset of promos by trading them to kids for cards like Raksha, Golden Cub and Phytohydra.
All in all a good experience, and one I hope to repeat next year. |
