Ok, hey everyone, this is my first article ever so if i screw up here bear with me Smile. Also, I would like to warn those who wish to flame that you are only harming the league and fellow players around you and will hopefully be punished for your flames. Now, down to business, this article is on the ruling of the 9th person in an 8max mini. It is as of now that the person getting the bye in this mini should be dropped round 1. I see this as unfair and as i can see there are others that agree with me. This article is to find out your opinion on the subject because this league is supposed to be for the players to have fun and not for benefit of anyone but the players. As i see it by going through with the dropping of a person because they have this bye is like punishing them for a server screwup because it let a 9th person slide under the radar. Also, though there are judges that argue that they should not be stuck in a 4 round mini because of this is showing a sign of lazyness(No offense to my fellow judges). As it is this is something that looks like it either needs to be changed or if kept something that needs to have a warning to players so that they know what was going on. This happening to me today i was told but still did not understand why i was dropped. I respect the judge for apologizing though. Now what i ask is you the people's opinion. I ask again that you not flame because this is a matter of strongly placed importance and will only help the league if we get it fixed. Now i thank you all in advance because i appreciate all of your informational opinions equally. Also with your response to this i ask that you support your opinion and do it carefully and ask that you try your best not to offend your fellow players.

Thank you again for your opinions and I hope the people get the results they wish to have.

thats alot of words. the rule is you drop the person with the bye. 2 people hit submot at the same time. yes they both joined. but people run 8 max for a reason. it is suggested to run a 16 max. but because of time constraints 8 max. in a draft it has to be 8 people. unless J2 is around who knows how to fix pairings bye would win 2-0 dropping the person with no rating change. if a j2 is around you could get a volenteer to drop, and have the J2 pair the person with the bye to the other dude. essentially flipping the volenteer and the person vs.bye. anyway. the site is freakin good programming as is and this is a known error. and with all other known errors staff tries to fix it. and right now thats the current fix. it happens rarly. like maybe max once a week. anyway i said my peace. just join another mini. about 1000 are run a mnth

Don't exaggerate, it isn't anywhere near 1000 minis that are run a month. The number is closer to about 650 =P.

Im notvoting in the poll becasue i dont really like either option.

Essesntially it shud down to the tc what happens

If they have made an 8max and a 9th person join they shud do one of 2 things

accpet that there is going ot be 4 rds and see them all out ( More team pts!)

Or they play rd one and drop themselves becasue judges are here to provide a service to others and other people joining the mini is more important than them joining

Thats just my 2 cent

running 3 rounds = time constraints

drop after round 1 would only work if judge won round 1

oh im sorry.. let me go to the judge activity page where it shows total #of minis in the past 30 days...

1120

thats the total. so its not 1000. want a screenshot?
im serious, we run ALOT of minis. that number is exact as of this post. tomorow it will delete the 30th day ago and keep adding what people do for minis. so there are always minis to join. and it depends on the time yes. mostly during the day (united states) anyway. i hope you can find a mini. laters. and btw 600 is still 20 minis a day, almost one an hour. so 1120 would be almost double that. laters

How about jus randomly dropping one of the players before the pairings so theres only 8 players an no byes without a rating change ?

seems simplest to me

Here's the thing though. When i say unlucky 9th i mean that person that may get the bye and had been first person in. Would you join a mini and expect to wait 10 minutes just to be dropped? This is what happened to me with Circa's mini yesterday. I was 5th guy in and wait 10 minutes for it to fill up then i see round 2 pairs and my name isn't there. I was that unlucky ninth and was pissed about this. So then if not change the ruling should we now expect the people that control the server to work harder to fix this problem? I know there are quite a few of you that don't join minis just to get dropped round 1 because 1 extra squeezed in. Especially if you were the first person in and all ready to play. I see it as being a punishment to the players for a reason because the site randomizes pairs no matter what and that person that gets bye isn't always the person that just happened to squeeze in. As said when i say the unlucky ninth i mean the person that might not have just squeezed into the mini but the person that got in early and sat there waiting to play just to get that bye. The person that got dropped because of a ruling. So we either expect server to be worked on alittle more diligently or we fix this ruling atleast until the server is fixed.

Since this is rare and unpredictable why not simply give the unlucky 9th X points. Okay its not a perfect solution but having free league points is at least some compensation.

The only time it went down to 650 was when the site crashed and the numbers for the last 30 days were corrupted. 1000+ is the norm.

As for the topic, the only time I would ever (or would think anyone should) drop a player is if it is a draft and having a 9th player really messes things up. Otherwise, its basically the same length mini since you don't have to be around to confirm the final.
