What are people's opinions on Orzhov Euthanist in limited (primarily sealed)? Some people say this card is ridiculous while others seem to say he's not even maindeck worthy sometimes.

I, for one, am on the, its really good and always maindeck material. He's obviously insane with direct damage and sacrifice effects and makes blocking a nightmare, especially when your deck also consists of green pump spells (do you block a 2/2 with a 3/3 to play around the euthanist or with your 5/5 playing around the pump spell or not block at all?). Note this also makes bluffing in game 2/3, all the much easier after you show these tricks game 1 making unwinnable games, winnable. Even in defensive decks, it allows for smaller guys to block larger guys so I think he should always be maindecked.

For the most part, I think he is underrated because people a.) often misplay and lose their own guys to his ability after haunt and b.) just run it out there are turn 3 which is the wrong play 9 out of 10 times even if you have nothing else to do on turn 3. If someone has a good reason why he is not good, I would be interested in hearing it.

well it completely depends on the cards that you have around it... i think its not so good in the B/G/W archetype because all it does is create a trade most of the time. On the other hand, it can be amazing in B/U/R or some other color combos because of direct damage. For me, it is usually either one of the last cards in or out of my deck.

Rakdos is gonna have a field day with Euthanist when it comes out. I'm actually in neither of the camps you described: Euthanist is ok, and is good when used with other cards. He is not so good that as soon as you pick him up you need to start running black, and splashing black for him is probably not the best idea. He's a nice surprise, but unless you have Fangtail running the R/W/B or the U/R/B life his haunt can feel really useless at times.

he barely makes the cut, depending on your sealed/draft pool. a lot of times in sealed, I don't pay attention to him when picking my colors, don't add him when I'm adding my playables, then maybe he'll make the cut as the 19-22nd spells
