You know turn 2 win almost always, and the decks right know don't feature any card against it, so i think the unique top deck that beats it is the Thereshold w/ Blue...

Yes, Pithing Needle is clearly not played at all...

Yeah quoted for Sarcastic truth. To quote myself as I purchased 4x Pithing Needles straight from a store owners case the day the set came out, "Yay, my 4x $15 dollar artifacts are greater then 1/2 the decks in Legacy."
Otherwise ATS might still be top tier.

No, ATS died because it had the worst mana base of any Legacy deck and it requires enormous skill or luck to pilot correctly.

Vial Goblins, Burn (my fault. Sad), and Pikula are obviously going to be present, along with small amounts of NQG and Landstill.

Well, what a coincidence that ATS stopped being top tier the day Pithing Needle came out. Man and all this time I thought that had something to do with it, but apparently the whole Legacy community just came to the conclusion that the mana base was unstable and it required "luck" to play on that same day. Wow I could have sworn Pithing Needle had something to do with that.

ATS was never really a top tier deck. It was just expected to be one. Just like Flame Vault.

The difference being ATS Top 8'd about every tourney between when Legacy split from T1 restricted list to the day Pithing Needle came out as well as winning countless tourneys, and Flame Vault hasn't put up a good showing yet that I've seen.

The reason for that is that the release of Pithing Needle coincided with people starting to take Legacy seriously.
GPs were announced about then etc...
Obviously the manabase argument is faulty, there's nothing wrong with ATS manabase. It just proved to be not focused and consistent enough and eventually succumbed to the finely tuned aggro and aggro-control decks that dominate the current Legacy metagame.
