pithing needle is saviors, not 5th dawn... duh
skullclamp is broken as a card-engine
affinity was not the hands-down best deck
there are several decks i've played to X-o against affinity
i'll enjoy watching peopel butcher decklists
and enjoy watching people think they've won/lost based on die-roll or first good rip.

And i think it's no fith dawn because then ravager would be able to play cranial plating and then it'll just be insane |
You mean it was the most broken, not fun. Every deck ran 4 of skull clamp, aggro was God, it was over just like that. That's not fun, I admit I hate this format mainly because there is TOO MUCH REMOVAL, I can't play anything rogue because every deck has an answer to virtually everything, but I hated the old T2 even more, it was broken. |
No I'd have to agree it was one of the most fun periods of magic that I can remember. Mostly is was just the whiney nublets that didn't like it. |

I'd have to say that pretty much renders your whole point almost meaningless.
You can't beat affinity unless you devote a good portion of your deck to do so.
When every deck has to do that to win, then I'd say that deck was obviously the best in the format.

People who don't like this format don't have to play in it I don't see why you care what tourneys oceanonfire makes or doesnt make it's not like it's a trial or master or anything special.....
Now I got a 2 questions....
1) Is the tourney gonna be on Apprentice or MWS?
2) Goblin King in current t2 format is a Creature-Goblin Lord back then it was just a Creature-Lord.... What will it be considered in the tourney? |

I like Other formats props for doing one, this one just seems kinda stale to me. I got real tired of playing against 4 Affinity decks a night during this period and just packed up my T2 and played Legacy until about a month or so before Affinity was crippled. |

You never played any deck that could beat affinity consistently and fair well against ANY other deck. No such thing, affinity WAS the hands down best deck, that's why they banned...let's see...
22 of 60 cards out of the raffinity deck list; because it was too powerful. Get a grip, you're just another raffinity player. |

I pretty much realize that the ppl who thought Ravager was so dominate then are ppl who never played during that time or sucked during that time
Anyway, they started to ban most of Affinity's good cards AFTER Clamp was banned and AFTER Onslaught left. With Onslaught leaving we lost a crap load of good cards and Kamigawa didn't exactly replace the with any worthwhile cards.
If you played during that time, you'd realize both Elf and Nail and BG Cemetary basically abused the crap out of Affinity. I mean obviously decks that can keep playing Viridian Shaman over and over (EnN off of Symbiote and BG off of Oversold).
Anyway, back then my BG Cemetary DID consistently beat Affinity. Out of like 20 matches, I lost maybe twice to Affinity.
Oh yea, the only decks that devoted a large portion of spells to arti hate were control decks, not the aggros. Like, the most Gobs had in their board were a few shatters and electrostatic bolt because they tip the match into their favor a bit. EnN and BG just outright abused Affinity's board position.
Please know what you're talking about before you respond please.
Most of Affinity's cards were banned AFTER Onslaught left and after Clamp was banned, so other decks lost their spunk.
Affinity was DEFINITELY not the best decks as two tier 1.5 decks beat it. (And Goblins could pull out the win if played flawlessly)
Since this IS my fav. era of T2, I might start a few of these type of minis myself, just to use BG Cemetary again |

This is the single most ignorant post I've ever seen. Its worst match up was against itself, period. It was the deck to beat, or the deck to play. Plus the affinity mechanic was more broken than a puppies skull after being smashed into a wall. Free spells, especially free 2/2's free 4/4's etc. Tooth and nail can only hope to win if it can combo out 4th turn, which it can, raffinity was something that none of these decks were, and that's consistent, it could win with a myriad of the cards in the deck, the deck was pure synergy in a 60 card deck. Don't deny it, I know decks can beat raffinity, I never said that, but it was the strongest deck in the format easily. |

| So, obviously, SuperDood is a complete moron. He doesn't know WHY exactly there Affinity cards were banned but he speaks as if he does. It's funny though. I made my statement which most people will agree with and he answers with his ignorance of that metagame. |

It is true that every card in Ravager Affinity had pure synergy with every other card in it And i do believe it was ONE of the best decks before banning skullclamp.
Basically the format was like this:
Elf and Nail- beat affinty, lost to goblin bidding, ok vs g/b cemetery, ok vs many other decks
Affinity- lost to elf nad nail and g/b cemetery, ok vs goblin bidding, beat many other decks
g/b cemetery- beat affinity, ok vs elf and nail, bad vs goblin bidding, bad vs many other decks
Goblins- beat elf and nail, good vs g/b cemetery, ok vs affinity, good vs many other decks
Those were the main 4 decks you would see back then and probally see on friday
EDIT: After Skullclamp got banned the other 3 decks became weak-worthless and affinity dominated |

They were banned for no reason right?
KCI, Affinity, both huge powers, and most people were SICK of seeing them, boring to play, the deck played itself, it was virtually unstoppable. Stop kidding yourself.
I've read countless articles, that eventually seemed to turn into rants at Affinities ridiculous resiliancy. It bounces back almost everytime. |

Hey SuperScrub, notice how I said the Affinity stuf was banned A-F-T-E-R Onslaught major cards left and many decks got WEAKER because Kamigawa didn't give anything worthwhile. That's the only reason those affinity cards got banned. You think if Kamigawa gave us as much powerful cards as Onslaught gave us, Affinity would have been raped by bannings?
If you say yes, kill yourself immediately. |
