sacred ground has proven better than LFTL. because with life, they still can lock you out of two mana after a wildfire. they just tap your lands and steal them so you dont get to 2. and then if you get to two you now have to spend 3 turns playing those new lands, assuming they dont kill you/steal them/wildfire again.

i forget which card text this is, but its something like 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'. i think that sorta fits here. haveing them not being able to kill you lands is a lot better than being able to recover after they kill them. against RU magnivore deck, resolving a sacred ground turn 2 shuts them down to the point they have to hope for bounce+counter, and they normally only run mana leak/remand. It essentially wins that matchup for you. you dont lose the tempo of having to re-play those lands. against UR magnivore or domain, if you got to 4 mana to play gifts, your pretty much best option is to accel into a dragon.once a dragon drops, its hard for them to do much to it.

regarding shadow of doubt, dont use it
cleanfall is all you need, you recur it by gifts package. always gifts in response to their ideal, it will almost always cause consession.

ok, uh, wow.... i just came back from JSS using a version of this deck and i must say i am pleased with the results. Overall i whent 6-0-2, placing 1st!!!! the 2 draws were to bob the builder and to get into top 8. this deck is simply amazing, able to handle anything it is put up against. with guilpact, if this becomes popular (which it should) then it defenitly needs 4 mortify or wear away to combat leyline of blackness. that card wrecks us!!!. the green leyline will be able to replace defense grid. cleanfall is AMAZING, but a lot of the times i wanted to hit artifacts too. cleanfall+sacred ground wins you the match against domain. but wear away hits pithing needle and jitte. the BW dual lands goes in as a 2-3 of. other than that not much change, except maybe more aggro hate since zoo is all over the place

Can we get a decklist from your win and maybe one with the post-Guildpact cards?

Looks pretty solid, I'll test it and see how it works out with the Mortify though.

Hey, I'm back to magic after a long vacation... I'm pretty decent at playing but on and off at building... and after a few solitare games I don't get the combo.

I know this is a total noob question, but could someone please explain what the combo is and how this deck plays? Thanks.

okay pretty much...you have greater good out...you play lets say yosei...you sac the dragon to the good drawing 5 cards tapping your oppent...and with cards such as goryos you and just splice onto lots of cards and you draw tons of cards and swing with dragons and the oppents just sit there and do nothing

Rather then a combo, the deck just has a rediculous amount of consistant synergy, unless you guys want to call it a five card combo, and we all know how good five card combos are.

Aha. I understand now. I kept doing solitare games and looking over the deck, and I was like, "it's good, but where is the combo??". Makes sense now.

its less of a combo, as he said. ive won many games without even greater good... those dragons are still big flyers with nasty effects. i think that the deck has a lot of potential to be a threat in t2... teir one no doubt. im dont approve of switching to the hana kami gifts side board in so many matches tho. i keep seeing people side like laughter engine with hana kami against boros or something... thats just dumb. if you ever played hana kami gifts, its WORSt matchup is aggro. your deck is well prepared to handle aggro as is. i chose to keep the hana kami lock in there, but only against mirror match and enduring ideal.

on a side note... i absolutely love cleanfall. it is amazing. it has 2 big matchups where it absolutely turns the tide for you, ideal and domain.

one more little idea to put in here.... at my JSS i played against 2 hana engine gifts decks, and i figure this will get popular. instead of putting black leyline(easily destroyed by mortify), i thought shred memory was the perfect fit. if you have to, you can remove yosei or hana kami from the grave in response, or you can transmute for vengeance if ya need it

Yeah GGG is definitly tier 1 and doesn't always need Greater Good to win.
However, I'm not sure about my build. It's not bad but for some reason it hasn't been consistant lately. Here it is:

Gx3

4 Yosei, the Morning Star
2 Kokusho, the Evening Star
4 Sakura-Tribe Elder
4 Wrath of God
1 Reclaim
1 Sickening Shoal
4 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Mortify
1 Putrefy
1 Recollect
4 Kodama's Reach
3 Greater Good
3 Goryo's Vengeance
4 Gifts Ungiven
2 Temple Garden
2 Brushland
1 Watery Grave
2 Tendo Ice Bridge
1 Shizo, Death's Storehouse
3 Swamp
2 Overgrown Tomb
1 Island
1 Okina, Temple to the Grandf
4 Forest
3 Plains
1 Miren, the Moaning Well
SB: 1 Hideous Laughter
SB: 2 Sacred Ground
SB: 1 Meloku the Clouded Mirror
SB: 1 Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni
SB: 1 Rending Vines
SB: 1 Cranial Extraction
SB: 1 Hana Kami
SB: 1 Death Denied
SB: 1 Soulless Revival
SB: 1 Dosan the Falling Leaf
SB: 4 Defense Grid

What do you think?

it is still good

check the analysis at worlds, it was one of the most played decks

other than that owl deck i seem to have good machups across the board

i am playing almost the same deck as xj2314o(lol)(he came in 3rd for liek 3 trials in a row)

adding the sanctuary is a good plan letting u discard the dragon (check the japaneese)
