Duplicate Sealed Deck

All the deckbuilding skill of Sealed Deck with none of the lopsided card pools.

Then all the good people would have nearly the same exact deck!

Only if you grab just any old card pool. You can, in fact, think of any typical format (Standard, Extended) as a giant duplicate sealed deck.

A great Duplicate Sealed Deck card pool is engineered, not randomly generated (although any of those limited articles you read where there are several ways to go are good too). It allows for several viable decks without, one hopes, any obviously superior choice.

Vintage and Legacy.
Vintage takes the most skill and Legacy is probably one of the most balanced formats.
I hate Extended, so very little viable decks considering Tog and Ichorid.
Standard is just simple, it's alright but with such a limited card pool it's kinda stale. Not to mention it rotates a lot and cards drop more than double what you paid for them.
