We are now informed what Khans will roughly be about.

5 Klans, each with its own mechanic. Morph is returning and replacing Alara's cycling in the neutral slot. There were cryptic messages about maybe another returning mechanic.

Your task will be:

Speculate!
Make up a mechanic, either a new one or a potential returnee with a twist, of Khans of Tarkir and show it on a COMMON!


The returnee mechanic has to have a twist to it since it is a) more likely and b) wouldn't be a challenge otherwise.

Judging will happen after next weekend, sorry to all impatient, you have been warned. Smile

Whenever Goliath warrior enters the battlefield, if it's snoop cost was paid then you may reveal an ally card from your hand. If you do, you may play that card without paying its mana cost.

Snoop - 2R(You may cast this card for its snoop cost if an ally has dealt damage to an opponent this turn.)

Sultai Initiate GUB

Creature - Snake Warrior [Common]

When Sultai Initiate enters the battlefield, you may exploit target card in a graveyard with converted mana cost two or less. (To exploit, exile the target card. If you do, the next spell you cast this turn costs X less to cast, where X is the casting cost of the exiled card.)

Just to make it clear, "Exploit" could feasibly target anything. It could target creatures, nonland permanents, etc. If it were to be printed, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a card that allowed you to exploit a card in your opponent's hand.

I thought about something RUG could do.
With R and U being colors that are strong in spells i wanted an ability that could fit on spells. With G and R being colors that interact with mana in the form of rituals and ramp that seemed to be a possible angle.
So I made this ability that could be added to spells as a rider and work on creature triggers too.
Blue as the central color of the enemy wedge made it okay for me to have a mechanic be about planning for the future. By the more red and green flavor of grabbing what you need now and then decide what to do with it later. It could on other cards be flavored in the green way of planting seeds to grow too.
The card is a pretty pure version as a ritual that immediatly filters mana and lets you keep the leftovers for next turn or just set up a big next turn.
As just a rider on a spell it is only useful if you have leftovers. But some spells could add small amounts of mana too as a little bonus.

I thought that too, but that is how it's spelled in the original post. I wonder if Wizards actually spelled it this way.


I didn't see that. But yeah, I sincerely doubt that Wizards did.
