You can pair them, since protection only disallows damage, enchanting, blocking, or targeting (DEBT) from the colour/source it's protected from, and as you rightly pointed out, Soulbond doesn't target (it "chooses" which isn't the same as targeting).

It also prevents Fortification :3
and also, you won't get a warning from your FNM judge. FNM doesn't work that way. Smile

You'd only get a warning at REL 3, right?

There is no such thing as REL#s anymore. The levels are Regular, Competitve and Professional. FNM is Regular REL. If you were to commit a Game Rules Violation at Competitive REL or higher, it would be a warning.
