Allright folks, I was hoping I could get an opinion on this elf deck I've tossed up. Combo elves.
Another point of this deck is to not be extremely expensive.
The deck is not finished, but I've played a bit casually around with the main combo and found it working quite well.
// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)
// Lands
4 [EVG] Wirewood Lodge
12 [R] Forest (1)
// Creatures
1 [WWK] Joraga Warcaller
2 [SHM] Seedcradle Witch
2 [M11] Elvish Archdruid
4 [M12] Llanowar Elves
4 [SC] Wirewood Symbiote
4 [AP] Sylvan Messenger
4 [LRW] Elvish Harbinger
1 [DPA] Immaculate Magistrate
4 [DM] Fyndhorn Elves
4 [NE] Skyshroud Poacher
2 [TE] Skyshroud Elf
4 [US] Priest of Titania
// Spells
4 [SOM] Asceticism
4 [SOM] Genesis Wave
// Sideboard
SB: 4 [M12] Swiftfoot Boots
SB: 2 [TSB] Gaea's Blessing
SB: 3 [NPH] Beast Within
SB: 4 [TSB] Avoid Fate
SB: 2 [PS] Gaea's Herald
The idea is to get a combo going with titania/archdruid, skyshroud elf and seedcradle witch. Tap titania for mana, convert one green to white with skyshroud elf and untap titania with seedcradle. This nets me infinite mana and +3/+3 boosts for the turn, not to mention infinite untapping on any card. For instance poacher or magistrate.
What I really like about this combo is that it's all elf, so I can almost always set it up with elf search effects. Problems arise mainly when my mana elves are destroyed early on.
I added some utility in sideboard, and I have asceticism for protection, but as I'm fairly unexperienced, I was hoping for some heads-up in here.
Tear me apart! |

Thoughts:
-4 Ascetecism, +4 Glimpse of Nature
You're playing Elves combo in a format that kills very quickly. I can't see you having the chance to use Ascetecism. Additionally, it isn't proactive (it's not contributing to your plan). Glimpse of Nature is cheaper and will allow you to draw an absurd amount of cards.
-4 Skyshroud Poacher, +4 Green Sun's Zenith and/or Summoner's Pact
You are spending 4 mana to cast, and 3 mana to activate for a single card. 7 mana for that is way too much. Either GSZ or Pact are far less mana and will allow you to find and play pieces of your combo the turn you cast it.
I'd change a few other things, but these two changes will allow you to run your version of the combo more quickly and efficiently. Additionally, if you decide you really enjoy legacy, pay attention to popular decks in your area to improve your sideboard. |

Thanks for the advice. Ascetecism is one of my very favourite cards in here, and it's saved me a few times. However, I see the point of it being too slow. If swapping it makes the deck that much faster, I shouldn't need it anyhow. Swapping poacher for Green Sun is a no-brainer, thanks for pointing it out.
Looking at the other deck, I'm thinking of adding heritage druid for mana. With a large number of low-cost elves and glimpse of nature, it should allow for playing a very large number of creatures very fast.
Also, getting some haste into the main board would be great. If I can tap titania for mana as soon as it enters play, the deck will in essence be a turn faster. I suppose concordant crossroads will be the best for that, just need to make room for it all...
Now to playtesting. Thanks for advice, and I hope for more constructive criticism. |

SB: 2 [SC] Xantid Swarm
this is my current elves list.
i love the combo of drawing your deck and playing a whole bunch of creatures. i think emrakul is the best win con imo. it allows for an extra go to win. i also think with priest of titania, you need both wirewood herald and quirion ranger as they make you add 12-15 from 3 activations.
im not sure how to explain to use the deck, i just recommend playing over and over, agains the fishbowl if you have to..
good luck |
